    I want dipsticks back. To check and add fluid. At least Honda’s have a easy accessible fill bolt.
    Now if they could have the filter accessibility without dropping pan.
    I usually measure how much atf came out and put back the same amount assuming it was full to begin with.
    Great video
    I really liked another video you have on RE4F04A solenoid block replacement. I may have to do that to a 2001 Nissan Maxima with 210k miles ( 337962km) p0744 code keeps coming up.even after trans flush and non invasive ways to attempt to fix. It drives and shifts a lot better now as a result.
    It’s not worth it to take it to shop to fix as car isn’t worth that much. But a DIY repair may be worth it.
    It’s my son’s 1st car. Other than p0744 and rear main seal leak and burn/leak 1qt oil every 3k miles it’s not bad for its age and miles. It’s one of the last Nissan’s that were made with quality

      hi, do all basic checks before you remove trans pan, then when you remove trans pan you will need to decide for yourself what is next step. if youre not sure then, a service and solenoid test/flush is probably worth the effort. cheers

    • @YepThatsIt
      @YepThatsIt  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      hi, good ol` cork rubber for price or duraprene best for me....the straight flat rubber i`m not a fan of at all......the thick U shaped rubber pan gaskets that hug around the pans work ok or the aluminium/rubber gaskets are ok but more expensive. cheers

    Hi guys, very informative videos - well done. I have a couple of questions please. Firstly, do you need a new gasket for the pan ? And is it ok to reuse the filter (assuming it looks ok) ? Is there a particular viscosity for the trans oil ? And where can I source magnets ? I'm in Melbourne. Thanks again.

    • @YepThatsIt
      @YepThatsIt  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      hi, we replace both filter and gasket. the gasket can get flattened out or damaged and the filter screen can often develop a split in it under the shrouded part from the constant sucking action of the pump. best to replace. you can source magnets from us, contact via facebook link in description. we are away till the 17th jan. thanks & cheers

    120,000km old transmission fluid, I'd call that abuse LOL, mind you some people never get there vehicles serviced until it's too late and the damage is done. Fill point would be fun at home in the driveway or in the middle of nowhere. Speed sensor tip was good.

    • @YepThatsIt
      @YepThatsIt  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      that fill plug is actually one of the more accessible ones ! quite often we find, once some fault is showing up, people then remember to service trans, and somehow think changing the magic juice in their trans will fix it ! haha always good to clean as many of the sensors and actuators that you can, when you can...even in your engine. cheers

    Hey mate love the video. Sorry in advance if you have already covered this question. I have the A750F in a HDJ100 LandCruiser with about 335000 km on it and to my knowledge the trans fluid has never been changed. Do you think it would be worth my time changing it or do you think it will cause problems with it slipping due to not ever changing it. Would love to hear your opinion. Thanks again and happy new year!

    • @YepThatsIt
      @YepThatsIt  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      hi, if a service and filter change causes issues, your trans is probably not reliable anyway.... make sure you add magnets and use the "thickest" compatible fluid you can get. thicker fluid will take longer to pass through any internal leaks. sometimes a trans fluid conditioner additive can also help soften hardened seals. a bypass trans oil cooler will also help keep fluid cooler and thus thicker for longer. thanks & cheers

    • @YepThatsIt
      @YepThatsIt  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      cork/rubber usually around 10 - 15 nm. neoprene gaskets can go tighter, i guess go by feel, just make sure you put cork/rubber gaskets on dry or they will weep and slide when you tighten them. cheers

    they hold a lot more than 4 litres.. do you not change the oil in the converter as well, you have only changed half the oil it will mix with the old dirty stuff

    • @YepThatsIt
      @YepThatsIt  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      hi, i`ve covered that question many times if you care to go through other past comments.... in the old days the only trans i can recall that had a drain plug on the torque converter was a ford c4. we only hook up our trans fluid pump or vacuum as much fluid as we can when coolant/water enters trans. to properly flush all fluid with pump you will need approx 3 times the volume the trans contains to flush it properly ( expensive ! ), even with a vacuum pump connected, there will still be fluid in lower part of the torque converter as well as in nooks and crannies in trans and behind pistons, accumulators and servos etc. having said all that, if your trans is running ok, just changing fluid that comes out with pan drop is adequate to bump up the trans fluid properties. if the trans is buggered or varnished from overheating, a full trans fluid change will only make it worse - this is because the old dark, contaminated & broken-down fluid is thicker than new fluid - if you have a worn or trans with internal pressure leaks, the thinner fluid will pass through those leaks alot quicker and easier making the trans feel worse. hope that answers your question, but in end choice is always yours about what you decide to do or what is best for you. cheers

    • @bradleymarshall5591

    6:40 This Automatic Transmission use WS transmission fluid,Not "Type T, T-II, T-III, and T-IV.."

    • @YepThatsIt
      @YepThatsIt  ปีที่แล้ว

      hi, you can use the low viscosity ws fluid. frictional specs are basically the same, if you completely filled with the t - iv fluids you may feel ( but i doubt it ) slightly sluggish when trans fluid is cold in colder climates but here in australia will not be an issue. in a service 3 - 4L is needed ( which is less than half dry fill capacity ) so the viscosity will be somewhere between the t - iv and ws anyway. thanks for pointing that out. manufacturers will always recommend their own genuine fluid, but a good quality and compatible fluid will not harm anything. the choice is always yours. cheers
