Scene at: 2:33 was shot at rt 139 Jersey City driving towards the Skyway from the tunnel; 2:42 is Belmont Ave between JFK Blvd and Westside Ave, Jersey City right at the Lincoln Monument. Not much has changed since filming. I did see the exterior wall of Trenton State Prison at the third driving shot.
The original theatrical release had "Shout" by the Isley Brothers in this scene. In fact, there were 4-5 songs from the theatrical version that are missing from the DVD release, with inferior songs swapped in. You can still see the names of the original songs in the credits. They didn't change the original song credits for the movie for the DVD release.
I recall an interview with John Sayles from years ago where he talked about the music rights holding up the video release. According to him, 24 songs had to be cleared and all but 4 were. Shout was replaced by Surfin' Bird; Lover's Concerto by Sweet Talking Guy; and 2 songs by The Mamas and the Papas were used instead of ones by Simon and Garfunkel.
@@chiefscheider That sounds about right. And I missed every one of those songs when I watched the DVD. Those scenes worked perfectly with the original songs on the soundtrack. The use of Surfin' Bird instead of Shout is the poorest of all the substitutions.
I love this movie grew up in Jersey with Bruce and the boys Eccept it was the 70s great time🎉
When he drops her off - her car is in a different spot! Great movie!
Memories......one of my favorite movies.
Loved this film...and the soundtrack. Springsteen's songs actually fit in really nicely even though they were written in different era
