Cleaners accuse Abraham Esau Hospital of empty promises

  • A group of cleaners at the Abraham Esau Hospital in Calvinia in the Northern Cape is taking the hospital and the Health Department to the Commission for Conciliation, Mediation and Arbitration (CCMA) for failing to honour promises made to them. The workers say they've been working there on contract for years and were promised permanent positions. But they allege that they were overlooked and now face unemployment.
