  • Bought as a ready to run with metal chasis, wheels, tracks, turret and gun. Customised with Elmod Fusion Pro control unit, custom speaker, custom servo controlled hull machine-gun, custom servo gun elevation and recoil, custom turret track hangers and modified the paintwork with airbrushed shading, dry brushing airbrushed insignia. Even added a little metal bucket hanging from the back like the Panther at Bovington Tank Museum. For some reason the camera doesn't capture the muzzle flash of the main gun, I guess its too quick for the frame rate, though it does manage it once. Unfortunately the weather decided to be windy that day, so apologies for the sound of that on the camera microphone.

Incredible, small sugestion...have the tank roll along the length of that narrow hardscape, but place your camera at or below the level and then rotate the turret from facing away from the camera to traversing over it, then shoot, same Where Eagles Dare music, could be very dramatic

THAT is a 'sweet' tank. About the only thing it needs is smoke spewing out the barrel when firing the cannon but they probably don't have that technology yet. Great job on the extra track pieces mounted on the hull as well. Gives it more 'character'. Always a pleasure to watch a video of a well done WWII tank - keep 'em coming!
    Do you have anymore Jan?

You can get smoking gun systems now, debut on a recently released Chieftain tank by Haya (do a search on that you'll find some videos). Funnily enough though high on the quality scale Tamiya can sit a bit low on the functionality scale of these things, none of their tanks have smoking exhausts for example. As far as more, I have a Tamiya Panzer IV which is awaiting its paint job and a Taigen based Panzer III I have been building which has a raft of external details added to it and is also awaiting its paint. As soon as they're ready I'll post them up.

@@Janster72 Ok. Looking forward to seeing them.
I couldn't find a Haya Chieftan but I did manage to find barrel smoking units (fairly new stuff I think) along with the plastic tubing on the RC Tank Legion site. They're based in Malaysia though so shipping to NA might be more expensive than the units themselves (rtr for HG's 6.0 mbu).
This brand new hobby of mine is getting more and more interesting! Tks.

@@Janster72 this Chieftain is the only r/c tank I've seen thus far that is sold stock with this feature. There will probably be many others in a couple of years or so.
HengLong Panther De in Germany also sells cannon barrel smoker units along with flash. Maybe in the future you'll add one to your Panther G?

Great build! Where did you get the custom turret elevation and recoil unit from?

It’s from www.dklmrc.com in Hong Kong, the all metal unit. Forgebear stock some of their stuff but they’re out of stock at the moment. That’s also where the Propulsion Dynamics gearbox comes from. Instead of separate motors running each track a single large motor operates forwards and backwards and then a second smaller motor and a system of gears and belts provides additional power for steering. This avoids any issues with motor synchronisation that can cause the tank to “twitch” when running in a straight line. It also gives a very smooth and proportional delivery of power and steering. You do need an ElMod Fusion or Clarke CPU/MFD running the tank to operate this type of gearbox though. My preference is always ElMod as you can run the tank in advanced mode and it actually simulates it having gears like a real tank!
