We camped at Wolf Creek with our young kids in the late Fall of 1992. We were the only ones there until around midnight. At that time some bare-chested guy started driving in circles around the Park. We called the Sheriff and a Deputy stopped out to investigate. The guy had left and the Deputy made several trips through during the night. He said the Park was a “dating site.” We never went back. Glad you had a better experience. Btw, our house backs up to the “Mighty Sandusky” some miles upstream.
We didn't have anything like that happen but there were what we will call squatters there (tried to stay without paying) but the county vehicles monitor the park so they only got away with it one day.
Just had 4 days on a cl. ( hideaway site in the uk) we were the only ones there... brilliant... no problem if the dogs barked a little... nothing in the way to spoil the fantastic views... we loved it..❤
We stay and "Pink Jeep Campground" in the Back Country of Big Cypress National Preserve for a weekend. We had no cell service nor seen a single person for 3 days. Unfortunately, with our new trailer, we can't fit to get back there. It was great while it lasted lol
@@WanderingWagners it was great! The only person we seen was a park ranger that checked on us and told us about a couple wild orange trees that were growing a few yards into the wooded area from our campsite. They were amazing! So relaxing there! Definitely would want to sleep on the ground though with all the gators lol
She was on a mission to kill all the flies this trip🤣 she's a great little killer lol she was bummed she couldn't get to the river though. Guy loved just relaxing the entire time! ♥️🐾
Our local county parks campgrounds in eastern Iowa are $25 for water/electric, and $30 for full hookups with sewer. This includes nice a nice shower house, and there is also dump stations for those without sewer access. The sites are very level and either nice gravel or concrete pads. I believe the "primitive" campgrounds here are $12/night. $20 for primitive is a bit high.
Happiest at 11:01 am on Sunday when everyone leaves. P.S. hope tour cavity where your MultiPlus-II is has good ventilation. Mine is in front storage and just tested the storage temp and wow 108°F and had a high temp alarm on our Lynx controller...
Sometimes nothing to do is exactly what you want to do. However it would get pretty boring for more than a couple of days. Keep the good stuff coming guys.
We have an ODNR campground not far from us, Hidden Hollow in the Fernwood State Forest. That we like to stay at when we want a quiet getaway. As long as you don't mine the gun range down the road lol.
I really have enjoyed your videos on the solar batteries and other components. BTW pizza burgers are the best ! We used to have a pizza restaurant that did those ! Fabulous
Thanks! Happy to know you're enjoying the solar/batteries content. Sometimes it's hard to tell if they're enjoyed or not😂 The pizza burger was fantastic! We will definitely make pie iron burgers again🙌🏻
@WanderingWagners I'm looking into portable panels for my power station for a van for camping ! I'm looking at a Percron smart charger and truly have enjoyed your tests of bluetti of which mine is simular. Thank you
We've been by it hundreds of times and this was the first time we web even drove in😂 cute park but gotta watch out for squatters. The county caught some when we were here trying to stay and not pay
Probably why no one was there...no amenities and expensive. We wouldn't stay there. I do have a generator, but it would be nice to have water and a dump station. Thanks for taking us there and glad you enjoyed yourselves.
Did I hear something about heavy metals? 😂 we need a new water filter so we will check this one out! Only one time we were one of four campers and and three were our friends so only one other camper.
Yep gotta make sure those metals are GONE haha plus this does bacteria and made in the USA🙌🏻 We love having the campground to ourselves, or just a group of friends. One reason why we love Winter camping so much🤣
In the 80's we went to a campground in the Black Hills off Iron Mt. Rd. We found out about it from the brochures that are always all over the place. Every add was so commercial...Yogi Bear KOA etc. the wife found one that said "Do you like concrete pads, cable tv, mini golf and close camp sites? Well then don't come here!" Great campground. I'm not sure if it is still there.
Our generator is pretty quiet too but we still don't like to run it non stop especially when we too enjoy the peaceful nature sounds😁 solar and batteries for the win this trip!
Ya'll come check out Huggy Bear Campground in Middle Point Ohio sometime. Opposite of Wolf Creek, there is so much to do. 3 pools, splash pad, putt-putt, pond, stage, campstore with foods like burgers, pizza, great breakfast menu and an ice cream machine. I have a drone video on my channel for a preview of the grounds if interested in learning/seeing more. Book now for next years St.Jude Benefit weekend. Bands, beer garden, silent auctions, raffles, 50/50 drawings...This campground is amazing. I transferred from Van Buren a couple years ago. @@WanderingWagners th-cam.com/video/t-l4Qcp0bug/w-d-xo.html Yes, there are 100's of seasonal campers here but also plenty of room for the weekenders. I recommend getting a spot over by the dogbone pond, mini homes for your rig. Full hook up, nice level lots with grass and plenty of room for your pups. Bring your bikes, it is a very large campground. Stop out at the petting zoo and say hello to the turkeys and goats :-). Give me a shout if you get something booked and i'll look forward to giving you the golf cart tour. Or, they also rent carts on site. The owner Mike Neise lives in a cabin on site and you always see him out taking care of the place the the people. Great guy and he has done a fabulous job with the campground. If you already have a truck to pull a 5th wheel trailer. Is it smarter to get a 5th wheel trailer then you already have your vehicle at camps to travel around with? I'm just asking, it seems silly to drive around a RV hauling a vehicle to travel around with. If you have a truck to travel with and pull your home. Just need some different points and opinions on this. Thanks and love the show.
If you already have a truck large enough to pull a 5th wheel you want and you use it for other things, then it's fine to get a 5th wheel. Most motorhomes can pull a pickup truck behind if you'd prefer a motorhome. We have had both but prefer motorhomes. Just a personal preference👍🏻
Thanks, I think a 5th wheel will be my new camping project. I want to put all my money into it decking it out and changing things. I have a opinion in seeing too much wear and tear on more engines and tires with motor RVs.. thank you again and keep making your great shows. I love them so do a lot of others. Plus I went to diesel school Lima, Ohio when I was younger and I'm from Indiana.
$20.00 for dry camping? Try going to Massachusetts. The state parks have tripled prices for out-of-staters. We showed up at a dry camping State Forest with zero amenities and found out it was $54.00/night for us Vermonters! Thankfully, the attendant said his system does not allow check-ins without a 24 hour prior reservation. He then said "If you leave a $20 cash donation on the announcement board, I will waive the 24 hr. requirement". We "donated" (to his beer fund no doubt) but Massachusetts State Parks are the most unwelcoming place for visitors this side of North Korea...
Yikes! There's a reason we don't frequent the North East💸🤦🏼♀️ For Ohio, $48 is a lot for primitive dry camping with no water, dump, or anything. I never understood the whole you must reserve x days ahead and pay reservation fees thing...
I would prefer an empty campground. Going this weekend to a similar campground in MN. Just pit toilets and some faucet water. I’m setup for off grid and have an EcoFlow wave air conditioner with the extra battery.

I’ve only once had the luxury of having the camping area to ourselves and for the 4 days we had it was amazingly peaceful only hearing Mother Nature.
