    Khadi shop in CP is genuine government establishment which sells clothes designed by fashion design educated urban designers but actually stitched by village women organisation under quality control by designers. So, the stuff there is very good quality, but slightly more expensive than street clothes. Worth it. The clothes from khadi shop will last hundreds of washes. Such government shop are throughout India .

    That's a genuine khadi kurta so it's 500 if you got it from open market quality of cloth is not good

    The price are a bit costly because these are handmade stuffs and generally come from the villages of India.
    It's becoming a big source of income for the women in the rural India. Of course costwise they can't beat the large Industries where they produce stuff in large quantities but quality wise they're pretty good.

      There are numerous luxury malls in India even and these local markets are not the only place where people shops. All the big cities as well as small towns in India have shopping malls. In the big cities there are luxury malls, you get really exclusive brands. A huge chunk of Indians shop from the malls now a days. Its a different world inside the malls and multiplexes than the western media portrays India to be.

  • @bosgaurus1
    @bosgaurus1 5 ปีที่แล้ว +10

    Divert Living,
    Jimmy has a good eye. There are 2 quick cuts of him fingering a white (almost cream or oatmeal color) one. That is the original undyed color of khadi cloth.
    The British had destroyed a thousands year old textile industry (the Roman Empire nearly went bankrupt importing Indian fabrics and spices -the Roman Senate had to pass a law banning sales of Indian stuff). by destroying looms and crushing the thumbs of the cloth makers.
    Gandhi pushed for self-reliance (as a country) and hoped to help people create jobs by asking people to stop buying British imports and to make their own cloth and clothes. I was told by family who witnessed it, people brought out the British clothes into the streets and burned them. Just the piles of buttons the next day were higher than your head.
    Khadi was that home-made cloth. Besides the history, the cotton breaths much better than the other fabrics and is much more comfortable. Remember to hand was and hang dry. Machines will shrink it to a kids size. :)

That's why you didn't roam around all the famous places around India, instead you got a house in a city and lived and explored the place like a local would do(might do). Well, salute. I didn't know I was gonna tell you this, but now that you have only 1 week left, I as an Indian, kind of, miss you two.

    If you are still in Delhi, visit the National War Memorial near India Gate. PM of India is inaugurating it today. So maybe you can visit it from tomorrow.
