That’s strange. Maybe she’s got some dirt on him. Technically him worrying about “hurting” an ex who doesn’t want him doesn’t make you taboo. Are you sure he didn’t dump this woman and then started ruminating on her once she finally got over him. Are they communicating right now or are they completely separate? She's felt like the only reason he showed interest in me was to, you know, make her jealous. I don't think it's the case, I think he really likes me. But realizes that if he would pursue me, it could very well destroy my relationship with her. And he really doesn't want to do that.
So yeah, complicating. I get that he would worry about this hurting her. But I don't get how he keeps pursuing her/getting rejected, but still expressing he likes me too, but his conscience can't let him do anything about it.
