This is the first of your videos I've seen, I think? The title drew me in because of an experience at work over this past week. I was triggered into anger (after a year and a few months of working there) and kind of yelled at a coworker I'd been frustrated with. Well, when I say "yell," I mean my version of yelling, which is just kind of speaking stronger than normal with an annoyed tone; it's not like the insane yelling you'd see crazy people do in the evening news or something, lol But anyway, the next day, I submitted my resignation. But that actually ended up being a big eye-opener for that one coworker (he later told me). Both him and the boss each separately kind of "showed me their hearts" by coming to me and saying how they didn't want me to leave, and the boss even confided in me that the other guy had recently started therapy. That revelation about that one coworker going to therapy suddenly gave me a lot of hope and I decided to stay, especially since they were both brave enough to open up (you know, they're guys around 50 years old who ride 4-wheelers on the weekends and they don't usually talk about feelings). We all apologized, and the one coworker tried to take the blame, but I shook my head and said, "I'm responsible for how I react to the world around me." And later, I kept thinking that this phrase might have kept coming back into their minds, afterwards, as if it was kind of a new way of thinking. And so basically, I think it's just like your title: I triggered them into working on themselves a little more. But I think these are not the only two in my life. There were probably others. The part about being powerful. This is the first of your videos I've seen, I think? The title drew me in because of an experience at work over this past week. I was triggered into anger (after a year and a few months of working there) and kind of yelled at a coworker I'd been frustrated with. Well, when I say "yell," I mean my version of yelling, which is just kind of speaking stronger than normal with an annoyed tone; it's not like the insane yelling you'd see crazy people do in the evening news or something, lol
But anyway, the next day, I submitted my resignation. But that actually ended up being a big eye-opener for that one coworker (he later told me). Both him and the boss each separately kind of "showed me their hearts" by coming to me and saying how they didn't want me to leave, and the boss even confided in me that the other guy had recently started therapy. That revelation about that one coworker going to therapy suddenly gave me a lot of hope and I decided to stay, especially since they were both brave enough to open up (you know, they're guys around 50 years old who ride 4-wheelers on the weekends and they don't usually talk about feelings). We all apologized, and the one coworker tried to take the blame, but I shook my head and said, "I'm responsible for how I react to the world around me." And later, I kept thinking that this phrase might have kept coming back into their minds, afterwards, as if it was kind of a new way of thinking.
And so basically, I think it's just like your title: I triggered them into working on themselves a little more. But I think these are not the only two in my life. There were probably others.
The part about being powerful. My intuition has kind of been telling me that I am powerful, but I think I might be afraid to see it. ...Or, actually, I wonder if I'm afraid of power because of a (false) belief that power would cause me to become a corrupt jerk (like we've often seen in leaders of society aaaaaaall throughout history). Yes, your experience is exactly what I have been through. People watch me all the time. People come up to me and tell me their hard knock life stories all my life. I listen to them and they are shocked buy what they told me because they never told anyone else these things before. I have kids and animals come up to me and the babies stare at me and smile. I also have experienced the opposite side of people. I have been called all sorts of names and people give me dirty looks even strangers walking down the street. All my life I have had people I don't really know come to me and tell me their whole life story. Even people on the street. I have had people say "wow, I don't even know why I just told you all of that!" Like they couldn't help it. But for me it's completely fine, because it happens all the time!
