I love how visceral Reznov is about the war it sounds much more realist than your average "we are above this" American campaign. Oldman did a grea job.
The war on the eastern front was far brutal than it's western counterpart. Germany gave no quarter during the early days of war and Soviet Union repaid the same kindness.
@@safatsadman The pacific theather was pretty brutal, not on a large scale like the Eastern front, but imagine thousands of men dying on a tiny rock thats a few square miles in shit conditions throughout the whole battle. Its worse for the Japanese who have a near zero chance of ever getting off and going home. Having no chance against the american war machine, stuck in a cave wondering when they're going to burn you alive with flamethrowers or oil, or just bury you and move on to the next hole in the ground. All while you slowly deteriorate from the heat and the lack of food and water.

CoD World at War was made by people who wanted to show how horrifying WW2 was, they didn't give a fuck if their game was going to offend some blue haired idiot who don't even buy their games. Now it's just people who are too afraid to show how brutal a war can be.
I found that after wasting days on this one mission, finally figuring out that if you take off to the left and up the hill after you cross the river, once you get to the first covered wall, wait here for a few, grab the LMG here if you want. Once the friendlies take out some of the enemies in the large central area with the mounted gun in the middle, sprint to the first trench area and keep the the right. Throw a grenade or molotov at the central gun. Avoid any grenades. Then run back to the small cover tree area where you came up the hill on the left side as quick as you can. Running to the 1st trench area triggers the next wave of enemies. These will be taken out by the friendlies. Take out some while you can to help with progression. After it seems clear, run again to the first trench. Again will trigger another wave. Run back behind the cover or down the hill if you getting hit. Heal then go back and help where you can. You may have to try another run at the first trench a 3rd time however if it's fairly quiet, you can then take off to the left of the trench and most of the enemies will be gone from this area. After I couldn't not get past this central area after hours and hours of dying here, triggering the enemies a couple of times letting the friendlies take care of most of them, seems to be a good way to help get past this area. So glad I don't have to do this mission again. WaW is such a pain to pain on veteran.

@@LyftraS getting through trench or gully or clearing in the forest on veteran difficulty was a work of art in itself there's absolutely no checkpoints and your a.I team doesn't push up until you do and you have to push through the trench and the onslaught of infinitely spawning Germans just to get that checkpoint and this a difficulty where death comes from 2 shots or it's an insta kill in terms of grenades try heart of the Reich I was stuck there 5 fucking days on veteran due to this shit I think the platinum difficulty is right on the money when the community said 8/10 because WTAF!?
Yeah it does seem more like hard mode, mainly because the key to veteran is to keep pushing forward. This guy seems to spend a lot of time shooting at them from a distance when the enemies should just respawn.

I'm currently playing this mission on veteran and I'm stuck on the very beginning... literally can't get past the one part without 50 grenades being thrown at me, forcing me to run out in the open or away from cover... them get shot or blown up lol. I have never played Call of duty games. This is the first one and I recently turned it on for the first time. Yes, it's just an ordinary shooting range, but damn, I got a better feeling from the game. In its own way, this play seems like a twisted celebration of war. But all the explosions, shooting and screaming really drew me into the game. The game is now one of my favorite games and I mostly play games like Mass Effect.
I also love when you were going through the trenches i didnt see a single nade they threw. But i run this level every fucking german and their mama is sending every grenade their entire army has at the same time. It’s ridiculous. I cant get past the trenches.
In the next COD game, they should portray the lesser wars of WWII like the Japanese Invasion of China, or where the players are in the shoes of Simo Hayha, the White Death.

This was my favoraite mission in COD WAW, along with Ring of Steel. I played this game along with Battlestations Midway and Cod Mw3 at 14. Good times.

I have never played Call of duty games. This is the first one and I recently turned it on for the first time. Yes, it's just an ordinary shooting range, but damn, I got a better feeling from the game. In its own way, this play seems like a twisted celebration of war. But all the explosions, shooting and screaming really drew me into the game. The game is now one of my favorite games and I mostly play games like Mass Effect.
I also love when you were going through the trenches i didnt see a single nade they threw. But i run this level every fucking german and their mama is sending every grenade their entire army has at the same time. It’s ridiculous. I cant get past the trenches.

In the next COD game, they should portray the lesser wars of WWII like the Japanese Invasion of China, or where the players are in the shoes of Simo Hayha, the White Death.

Even while being American propaganda, I always respected this entry in the series for giving a glorious and fair take on what happened in the Eastern front. The Soviets conquered and defeated the Nazis at the end.
