Your brilliance is in your simplicity of how you get concepts across. I am at the start of my journey fulfilling a lifetime dream, thank you for sharing what you know. you're a great inspiration and your Sax school is awesome.
Great demonstration, Scott. As you were playing Georgia On My Mind, I began to recall when I played tenor sax in Junior college. I tried to play Toy Land but I didn’t know how to push the sound like you did. But, then again, I didn’t have a pro horn. lol. The classifications of horns was a new concept in my studies at the time.
Yes, thank you Scott for making this concept sweet and simple. After 30 years of playing (but no formal training since high school), I kind of know some things, but you definitely solidify my understanding!
Killer episode. I biggest thing I get from this is takes a special kind of cat to play alto. For me, when it comes to switching from one sax to another, Grover, Wilton, and Tom Scott are the few cats who switch well. Add to that Maceo's tenor solo on "Mother Popcorn. Even though it becomes more about doubling, perhaps you could do an episode on how to keep a kickass sound from one instrument to another. The melody on this song inherently has a lot of tension built into it.
This us actually one I have trouble with because I feek awjward getting really into the music when рlaying for реорle. Which ends up making me feel worse because I don't sound as good. Vicious cycle. xD
Thanks! It's a neckstrap I built out of a couple different other harnesses and straps. I wanted something that supports the weight away from the neck, but still had the flexibility of movement.
@@ScottPaddock Nice! I have a JazzLab Sax Holder, which takes pressure off my neck, but it sways too much. I need something else. Hey... maybe market your design. =D
@@ScottPaddock Thanks Scott you are an awesome sax player and teacher. I have two accounts with saxophone online with Saxschool Nigel McGill and also with BetterSax I will definitely sign up with you!!! For the most part of my sax journey I am self taught but with you guys helping us you cut the edge.
Thanks for the tnr lesson. Your tension notes sound a bit forced and bent out of tune. Too many players pro or otherwise seem to need to compete with rock guitars.

Make the time to do lots of practice. Art V science.
and play everything.....
Go to the Williamsburg bridge and play 15 hours a day for a couple of years.
A great lesson that ties together dynamics and articulation. Thanks, Scott.
Very nice reminder that feeling the flow of the music is every bit as important as reading the chart. Great lesson. Thanks!
Difficult to get the feeling while reading the dots.
I love that sound ,Nice one Scott

But you never released us from the tension of the last note during the intro! 🤣
Thanks for the wisdom, dude.

Overblow so hard it sounds like a kazoo. Got it.
I would be nice if you could play it in tenor as well for your tenor/soprano player’s
