    Great video, Pat. We loved your advice about the luggage delivery service. We wouldn't have thought of that. Also, beautiful scenery vids. The music was the best yet.

      In my research prior, people complained about difficult time with luggage on this train. I started researching luggage forward and then talked to the people at our hotel. It is very common to have the porter service handle it for you - pickup at the hotel, ship to your Bergen hotel and it will be in your room prior to 8:00 pm. That was the only way to go in my mind. I watched people flipping out trying to figure out what to do with their luggage while we were enjoying the ride. Glad you liked it. The scenery was off the chart!!

    I remember the train excursion I did when we stopped in Eidfjord port, and took the train from Voss to Geiglo. I was amazed at how many people couldn't figure out how to open the doors between trains. The train you were on had a different method of opening the doors, but the car I was on, had a button you would push on the wall. People would walk right past the button, and stand at the doors confused on how to open them. Our tour group ended up having to tell people how to open the doors every 15ish minutes. It started getting ridiculous after awhile to the point where we started playing the "hot and cold" game with people to see if they would figure it out.

      Eric ...ha ha...good story. I have to day, I had to pause a couple of times and look at the door. Even the restroom door!! This is really a great train ride and I would not hesitate to take it again.

    Thanks Pat for the footage inside the train. This has been incredibly helpful to me when booking tickets. I have just booked tickets now! I am going to take my suitcase and store it one of the racks near the door. I will be about 3 rows from it. I have a bicycle lock, to lock it to the rack. I'm concerned about someone making off with it at one of the stops. I'm undecided about getting my luggage transferred, I will see how I go. I'm going from Bergen to Oslo. Thanks again!!

    It is in fact more normal for the train to depart Oslo from track 3, and for car 1 with the more expensive "pluss" seats to face the terminal, so the passengers in this car have the shortest walk both to and from the train. 😊 The train would then go directly into the tunnel underneath the station and all of Oslo, before emerging on the other side, stopping at stations Sandvika, Asker and Drammen before reaching Hønefoss. That your train faced the other way, means that it took the more northern route to Hønefoss, probably because of work on the railway line.
    It's usually a good idea to check the seating orientation on the ticket app. At the end of the car, you may find that two seats are facing opposite from the movement of the car, and you will sit facing two other passengers for the duration of the journey.
    I don't usually have a problem placing my luggage, but the porter service was interesting.
    Oh yes. Sadly, the Wi-Fi is totally unreliable. Even if you do get a connection, it's sluggish at best, it won't work inside the tunnels of which, as you noticed, there are a lot. West of Finse you can only expect connection at the stations. It clearly depends on a cell phone connection. I don't expect this to change even if they do get better routers on the train.

      I loved using the porter service which makes the holiday even easier. I never really expected wi-fi and was looking forward to the sight seeing which was just great. Thanks for the additional information about the seating!

    Hi! Which company did you use to transfer luggage to Bergen hotel? Loved your video! Do you have any videos for cruises...most notably Viking?

      @@joannacarl2668 I don’t recall which company I used….it was the hotel that made the recommendation as I recall. There are multiple companies that do it. I have lots of cruise videos on my Channel and most of them are Viking, which happened to be my favorite cruise line now. Just look at my channel videos. I cruised out of Bergen on that trip with Viking.

    Pat did your luggage arrive ok? We travel on Sunday and like the idea of luggage transfer. By the way who did you use?

    • @patsadventures6381
      @patsadventures6381  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Our luggage was in our room at 6:00 pm at our hotel in Bergen...and I never had to touch it. We stayed at the Hotel Continental in Oslo and they made our arrangements. There are a bunch of the luggage forward people and it is a major business. No issues whatsoever and I would do it again the same way....so much less hassle.

    Thank you for your video. Could you please tell me whether the table at the Pluss Seats is foldable/removable or not? I'm wondering how person on the window side could go out except for people on the aisle move away for them.

    Did you have any issues looking up or booking tickets? Almost every time I used it, I would look up a date and results would be the next day NOT the one I requested. Bought tickets from Bergen to Oslo and they sold me the wrong day!

      That's nearly 40 mph average, through very rugged country, and the train makes about a dozen stops along the way from Bergen to Oslo. It is electric all the way, and that's rather remarkable. Norway has invested a lot in their rail system for well over 100 years, and it shows.
