- This video is our Retirement Travelers travel vlog of our trip through Norway. We show you how to take the Flåm Railroad and ferries to see the Fjords in 2024. This is a bucket list item for many people, especially retired travelers, and it is not too expensive if you do DIY travel. We also show you around the beautiful city of Bergen, Norway and then travel the 7-hr train journey to Oslo.

We are retired military and travel the world. Thanks to my Italian heritage, I'm also an Italian citizen.This summer we spent 3+ months in Europe. While in Norway we took the same trip. Our train didn't make it to Flam due to hot tracks and fire. They put us on a bus and we finally made it to Flam at midnight, luckily we had hotel reservations. Thankfully it never got dark so we could see the beautiful scenery. However, I feel the bus obviously didn't provide the same viewing experience. That being said it was amazing and I would do it again in a heartbeat. Thanks for your comprehensive video, it was nice to reminisce! Safe travels

@RetireandGo We are looking forward to traveling to Southeast Asia. I haven't seen much of that part of the world. My husband was Navy, so he has seen a fair amount. I'm sure things have changed since the early 70's. Fair winds and following seas.

I love the energy and the excitement on both of you. I travel 8-10 months out of the year and I know the highs and lows of traveling. My worst time traveling, is better than my best time just sitting around (watching travel vlogs helps on my down time). Loved this video! The scenery is so beautiful and I love how even when it is raining you keep on going. Finishing up a month-long visit to Helsinki and did the ferry from Helsinki to Tallinn which made traveling so easy. I want to come back (maybe next year) and devote a couple weeks to seeing the rest of Scandinavia. I also like the song lyrics "you gotta find your people" and I feel like y'all are my TH-cam people. We had the luck of the Irish and we are not Irish. We usually do everything on our own but we decided to treat ourselves and even tho it was expensive it seemed well worth it. We paid about $250 each end of May 2018 and did the "Norway in a Nutshell". All planned but you do it yourself. We found it worth it because it was a great way to get from Oslo to Bergen in one long day. Included the Flam railway, trains, Fiord trip, bus down a very steep area and ended up in Bergen train station around 9 pm. The best part? He hit a heatwave! Shorts on the fiord trip. 80 degrees the entire week. Did take the furnicular up but walked down. Beautiful trip.

gorgeous! If I may ask, what do you do for footwear? Do you bring a second pair of sneakers to wear while the first ones dry from being caught in the rain? I just had this experience on a trip but we had a washer/dryer in our rental and I used it (mud-soaked walk in an apple orchard).
We wear Hoka running shoes and simply don't have room for 2 pairs. We pack very light. We do our best to stay out of muddy hikes.

Thanks so much. We honestly have had very few issues with language. So many people speak english all around the world. When we get in a bind, we pull out Google translate and have always gotten by pretty well.

Great video!! Really appreciate when a map is thrown in, but, wish you might have left it up a little longer or possibly re-introduced it as they trip legs progressed. Sure makes a great alternative to all the cruise trips. And, Oslo looked wonderful with so much art! Thanks for sharing.

Early 2024. Planning on doing the Golden triangle and then working our way south to Kochi before heading to Sri Lanka.

Those are some nice destinations..You will love the pink city and the mahals. Kochi is my favorite went there for my honey moon 15 years back and did a full 24 hour house boat in the backwaters of Pemba river. They provide a chef and their fish curry wrapped in leaf is to die for. Also if you could get your hands on try theeir local toddy drink, its natural liquor that is harvested from palm trees, it tastes amazing and famous in Kochi.
I could do without the music on these later videos. I find it loud and so repetitive that I have to quit watching.
