@@MANA98 troye practically did confirm it- in a vogue interview a couple of months ago he said his first real adult holiday (without family) was with an ex-boyfriend and they went to New Zealand (aka tronnor 2014) do with that information what you will x also note to self literally has a picture of troye in it with his face cropped out lol x

I think I'm torturing myself while watching and crying but still can't help but click to watch the video.
Until now I just discovered The Blue Neighborhood can be inspired by Connor, about the fear of coming out as gay, about the inner torment and the pots of sadness and sorrow deep in his heart. Troye appears in the MV as a friend and lover of the teenage boy, which could be a hint.
Connor had to go to treatment for depression for several years, especially after the breakup. He went through difficult times in his life, when he struggled internally between covering up and coming out as gay. I believe Troye was one of the key factors that helped him overcome his self-neglect and learn to accept himself (Tyler's help, undeniably). Connor showed signs of depression before coming out in 2014 and dating Troye in 2015. At that time both sides were too young, Connor 23 years old, and Troye 20 years old. A young boy is not only busy with his studies, touring, composing music, business and so on, but also helping his boyfriend overcome depression. It must have been a very bad experience for both of them. So there's nothing to blame for Troye's exit from the relationship. The lyrics of The Good Side are exactly what he wanted to say. Sadly a beautiful love had to end like that.
These are just some of my thoughts when learning about the context of this song and both of them at the time. Maybe right, maybe wrong, but the lyrics that touch the heart are the truth.
