5D chess makes a fucked up kind of sense after a while. It feels awesome when you find a way to put your opponent in check 5 turns ago and in 3 different timelines at once.
The easiest way to understand 5D chess is thus: Past you and future you are playing against both your past opponent and the future opponent at the same time. Without a means to come up with a new game plan whenever the future invades the past, you must learn how to evade such threats regardless of the source. Do not bother with making plans that you will follow to the end. Time travel will ruin those plans the moment it comes into play.

Honestly 5d chess is way simpler then it looks The only thing i dont get is why sometimes you cant create time lines The easiest way to explain how the pieces move is to first only look at your color boards, if you look at the grid in the back ground you can see that it considers a white then a black move 1 turn And second generalize how the pieces move You just have to remember that there are 2 more directions that things can go in The pawn (ima be real i dont remember this one because i never got the chance to make them travel across boards anyway, i think theres even some weird time en passant thing) The rook: can move any number of spaces in 1 direction The bishop: can move any number of spaces in 2 perpendicular directions at the same time The knight: can move 2 spaces in 1 direction then 1 space in another perpendicular direction The queen: can move any number of spaces in any number of perpendicular directions at the same time The king: can move 1 space in any number of perpendicular directions at the same time So for example the knight can move 2 spaces up and 1 turn back in time Or the rook can move 3 boards down the time lines Or the queen moves 2 spaces up, left, and turn back in time, You can even get a knight to move 2 turns back then one time line up, which would keep it in the same spot on the boards but would change the board its on And even things like a bishop moving 1 turn back and up, which would change the parity of the bishop from being on a light color square to a dark color or vice versa After generalizing their move set it becomes way easier to understand how they move It becomes even easier to understand if you actually notice the grid in the back ground as those are the 2 other directions the pieces can move in And the games should tend to be shorter as the longer the game goes on the more kings in previous turns youll have the chance to check, and if you can check a king in the past and they cant do anything about it then you win, which tends to be way easier because all they can do is take the piece
