  • In this video I demonstrate how to easily prepare and fillet mackerel ready to cook. I also make a quick and easy light lunch which consists of only a few simple ingredients. If you’d like to see how I caught these mackerel then check out the last 2 videos I posted on my channel at the links below. As always, thanks for watching and see you on the next one 🎣

    Would you agree with the statement that you will hardly find a better fish to start to learn to fillet?
    Did you do them on baking parchment?
    I think feel is more important than eyesight when checking for the odd last bone.
    Thanks for another great video from the kitchen!

    • @FISHINGWITHCAL
      @FISHINGWITHCAL  ปีที่แล้ว

      Cheers Patch. Yeah mackerel is super easy. You don’t actually have to do it like I did. You can literally just run the knife straight down the backbone to take the fillets off. Only problem with that is you’ll have more bones to remove. I’ll do that when I’m using it for bait. Mackerel is the easiest though, followed but flatfish.

    That looks delicious m8 got my mouth watering, what would u salty is the best way do cook a bass

    • @FISHINGWITHCAL
      @FISHINGWITHCAL  ปีที่แล้ว

      I like bass simply pan fried. Cook it skin side down on a medium heat for about 5 or 6 minutes then flip it over and give it another minute. There’s a video in my channel where I pan fry some bass out on the rocks with some salsa verde. That’s a nice simple but tasty way to have it.

    Nicely don cal, I think soft cheese with a mix of English & French mustard is a far superior flavour - I just don’t like mayo Alex it’s fresh fresh home made … but maybe tanziki with mint & cucumber could be a combo too 🤷🏽‍♂️👊🏼👌🏼

    • @FISHINGWITHCAL
      @FISHINGWITHCAL  ปีที่แล้ว

      You can honestly use whatever you want. I literally just used what I already had in the fridge. Ideally I’d have used crème fraiche with some dill and lemon zest. I agree that mayo isn’t the most ideal option. 👍🏼

  • @martinjustice
    @martinjustice ปีที่แล้ว

    Great content. Will add this to my repertoire. Might substitute the mayo for sour cream and horse radish as I'm hearing the seed oil content in mayo quite high. Your table manners are better than Smashes too. You must team up for an educational on eating etiquette.

    • @FISHINGWITHCAL
      @FISHINGWITHCAL  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks. Yeah sour cream and horseradish would work really well. Ideally I would’ve used crème fraiche but I used mayo purely because these were all things I already had in the fridge. Would’ve been nice with some better bread too.
