Get a transfer switch installed on your panel. They cost 300 bucks at Lowe’s. Easy to install for a handy man or electrician or A/C tech. Then buy two window units a 5k btu and a 12k btu. Next buy the generator 7k running watts. The power goes out and you roll out the generator plug it into the transfer switch install the window units turn it all on and camp out in those rooms preferably the living room and kitchen where the fridge and TV internet are. 17 bucks of gas ran that generator for about 20 hours. Make sure you have the gas tanks.

Where can you run 🏃 a generator for a full week if possible? I believe it would be extremely expensive

@@PraveenSrJ01 it is not cheap for sure, but when you’re on your second day with no AC in the Houston summer… you start make concessions

Glad everything is ok. Definitely stay prepared. With food and water for a week at least. Something to heat and cool one room in the house also if possible.
My sister lives in a highrise apartment in Houston. Seem like every year there's some freak weather events.
    Good luck.

We had a derecho that produced 1 f1 tornado....why does everyone keep calling this event a tornado?

It's a Derecho that spawned 2 Tornadoes. A Derecho is a Supercell thunderstorm.

Because the news stations, who, or what company told them said it was a tornado.
Showing downtown Houston with many windows broken in skyscrapers houses torn apart and flooding. That is serious and over 50, 000 people in the Houston area, out of power.
      High winds,flooding are serious events.
