In terms of routing the big thing would be that once you get the upgraded rod and make it back to the first brand room, you can use it to form Cif's brand (the one that leads to her secret room, not the other one), and the stairs in her room go right to 224. Definitely the biggest shortcut in the game.
Yea, I only realized I could do that yesterday while trying to figure out what songs I was missing. The thought occurred in my head that with the upgraded staff, there should be a lot more brands I could put in the first room and tried to figure out which ones could be inputted.
The true end for Gray is SO MUCH DIFFERENT than I ever imagined. I got to B256 without getting voided but without the super rod and got a COMPLETELY different ending that never even hinted at something like this. This developer is absolutely insane, if only I was actually good at sokoban... Great playthrough, thanks for showing this.
@@franciscojamess5827 I never even *heard* Voided, you actually just get to the bottom, story events happen and you start a new game+ with the descendant of Gray.
Love having to put video speed at half and mash spacebar because the uploader decided that they need to skip away any textbox in the nanosecond it appears.
You can cut down a lot of intentional dying by carving Bee's brand on B053 to get the wings and carving Cif's brand on B023 after getting the rod upgrade to go straight to the end
Kinda didn't like the true ending... if I'm not wrong, getting this ending would mean that Lillie was never rescued by Gray, and therefore was probably born to Lily as her mother. I loved the imperfect yet loving relationship Lillie and Gray had during the hardmode memories. I loved how they went through highs and lows and were a small, yet loving family. Lillie's normal ending made me cry, it was absolutely beautiful. This ending kinda erases that... and it bothers me a lot.
Well, the game can have multiple endings and unless there is some canon continuation, you are completely free to choose the ending you think is the best.
this game intimidates me too much to spend the time getting really good at it, so I think Ill just enjoy your playthroughs. I barely have any idea whats going on anyway

Thanks so much for posting this because it was very helpful to get through so much stuff. That said...I got a very different ending sequence between the SHUMP and everything blowing up. I didn't get dancing, I'll put it like that (instead there was beach) before going into story time. But it looks like you skipped the part with beach. Meaning there's just a branch of ending that I missed? Did I just die at the end somewhere? I had already lost once and had to restart the SHUMP section.
Huh, I didn't get the bit at the very end where you play as Lily, I wonder why. Instead, I saw them fall back to earth and the void lords all vanished.
You have to reach Lev's core during the final part to get the Lily part. If you get shot down before that, it skips that part completely and starts the ending. I think the proper way to do it is to survive all the waves until the last one where there are no longer any attacks but you can reach the core at any time during the fight to trigger that part.
The statue I jump down at 14:13 drains how much lives you have and skips that many levels. Dying that many times is to jump to that specific floor so I could reset back to floor 1.
You need to solve the brand in the zone and examine the seal. The brand is the iffy part since the hint from the rock is so cryptic. Basically you need to screenshot all the rooms and try to match up the tail flowing through them.

The dancing scene requires you to reach Lev's core during the final phase. If you get hit during that part, you skip it.
