Hi from Australia, Billy went to Salisbury High & was in my brother's class when he left the principal said he'd never mount to anything, yrs later he played at a school dance just to prove the man wrong. How great is that
I saw Thorpie play not too long before he passed. Most of the classics, still extremely well performed. At one point, Bill had to tweak his amp, giving the crowd a wry smile as he donned glasses in order to see the settings. "Don't worry mate," I thought at the time, "it's catching up to all of us..." RIP Thorpie. Glad that I lived during your reign.
@@bemorebulldog3680 Probably jammed with him. The Kevin Borish Express was late 70's.... Saw him on the 'free' tripple j concerts they did all over Sydney. THOSE WERE THE DAYS ! a blanket.. a chicken... and an esky full of beer. PS. I also went to the Concert of the Decade at the Opera House
waynebow 2018 Yes it would have been him. Seems it was 77/78 - www.sergent.com.au/music/kborich.html ..... I recall on the Nightmovin Live concert [77] he names him as one of the band members on She's a Lover at 2:55 ....... th-cam.com/video/2eYNLJBDhS0/w-d-xo.html
I thought that stevie wright was in this concert. I don't see him here. Stevie wright was a great performer and legend and song writer. He was in the Easybeats. The group that is responsible for AC DC. Who would go on to be a great performer on his own.❤❤❤❤❤🎉🎉. You should have at least mentioned his name😢😢😢. Give him some of the credit he deserves for his contribution to your Australian music❤❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉
I went to this concert at the Newcastle Entertainment Centre. I remember Stevie Wright singing and then all the other musicians came onto the stage to support him. His voice was still strong and I actually cried. Thinking about all my music heroes and how time takes it's toll on us all. Very moving. Something I will never forget.
If Billy had been lead singer of AC/DC, older farts like me might have understood the fucking words to the songs after Bon Scott's death. Billy was, and still is, the best rock singer in Aussie music. Gone but sure as Christ not forgotten.
I went to see Billy live back in the 90's. Some douchebag started shit with me and I ended up outside punching on. Cops rocked up and I was in the dock for the next 4 hours. Never got to see him live....

I went to this concert, it was lots of different artist, was a great show at the old horden pavilion 👍🥰
Hi Harry , thanks for putting this on , Billy was my guitar hero since I was 12 , live at Sunbury 1972 on the ABC black a white TV, I had a jam with you and Jimmy Squadrito at the Lazy Bones , cheers Frank
That would’ve been some concert. Just looking at a lot of those legends there. Some of them are still here today but some of them are no longer with us.❤️
Used to watch them for free at Coolingatta Beach on theGold Coast, Queensland . I was around 12 years old, noww 66. So in the very early 60's. Poison Ivy I think was one of their songs.
as i now play you to a world wide internet audience it thrills and spills me to remember Stretch with the big blue bedford that was their road van .. living upstairs from my parents apartment in rainbow street ... and everything that rock n roll was then and what it is now .... the acknowledgement of the punters is what makes our rockstars so very special .. they all do it ... We're All in This Together .. come letz Rock !! till we make Uluru roll with us ...
Couldnt agree more. I saw Thorpie about 4 or 5 times in the 90s at pub gigs in Adelaide and nobody went home disappointed. Billy was the guy who always said Aussie singers and musicians can match it with anyone from overseas. He left us way too soon but what a mark he left on the music world
I seen the 2002 concert 3 times, Wollongong, Brisbane & Sydney. 2003 Wollongong again and 2012 (10yr Anniversay) in Brisbane which imho just wasn't the same without Billy. Overall still the best concert I've EVER been to and I've seen a lot of live music!!
Well I can tell there's a lot of Aussies here Chico Rolls , omg I didn't mind them at all 😂there's some right names there on stage with Billy ! God bless him ! The world has missed out on some brilliant Aussie talent over the years , Wendy , Billy , Max , Doug, all the way through ! Saw them all for nothing at TC's Brisbane every Saturday morning , Zoot and a whole lot more , fantastic times, and free!
JOK (and I love his work) may have started it but Billy Thorpe is the seed of most Aussie Rock n Roll. He even inspired The BGs not R&R I know but great talent.
Now rockin out in heaven with Bon Scott God bless them both for all they gave to their fans. Rest in eternal peace but not too much peace.... rock on.... Terri S
AUSSIE CLASSIC ! "It's a LONG WAY TO THE "SHOP"if YA WANNA SAUSAGE ROLL " !!! one of very few regrets in life was not being able to see "KING BILLY" live ! LONG LIVE THE KING ! Aussies in that lineup I have had the privilege to see live are "Phil Manning with and without chain" "Kevin Borich express" "Brian Cadd" "Frankie J Holden ol 55 " Glenn Shorrock in LRB" "Russell the bloody legend Morris" ! Lots of them lived and gigged in LA .
Thorpe and the Aztecs played my school social about 45 yrs ago... and later on when I got the morning teas' i'de sing ' It's a long way to the shop if you want a sausage roll '. I ended up taking the girl from the shop to the Meat Loaf 'Bat out of hell ' concert ! Kids nowadays, don't know what there missing !

A true rock god of Aussie music, Billy we salute you.
Billy still gives me shivers as he did when I was just a kid. Simply the Best.

Some of Australia's finest singers & musicians performing this song with Billy Thorpe.
Thorpie was right when he told Angry Anderson years ago that our singers and musicians can match up with the best the world has to offer
