Just like Selena and her family, my uncle's family played music together too. I'll never forget how they talked about her being so genuine, humble, loving and encouraging. Needless to say they were devastated and heartbroken the day she was taken away. She meant a lot to a lot of people. Selena debuted as a member of a band along with her elder siblings to then becoming popular within the American Texan community. She became first female artist to hit the charts with albums and popular songs in the Latin song charts and in such a short time became big. Unfortunately her life was cut short when she got shot and killed by her long time friend and manager of Selena's Boutique. She was 23 years of age. Selena did perform a Disco Medley live from Astrodome and it's worth the watch. R.I.P. Selena.
I remember when she started to hit. I was into grunge and rock, but my wife is Mexicana and always loved Mexican music and Tejano. My wife introduced me to her music and I've been a fan since then. I prefer her Spanish language music, but this song is beautiful. Now I have a 14 year old daughter and she loves Selena and takes great pride when she wears her Selena shirt to school. She'll be having her quinceanera next year and there will be many Selena songs played at the party.

I only know a few words in Spanish but I still enjoy listening to Selena She has quite a few songs that you can definitely vibe to Such as Biddy biddy bombom. She was so talented and she had such a beautiful voice. RIP Selena.
Selena has other wonderful English songs: Dreaming of you, My Captive Heart, I’m Getting Used to You, Missing my Baby, Where Did the Feeling Go, Is It the Best, A Boy Like That (west side story) and many more😊
She was a living angel 😇 I cried when she was murdered my that head of her fan club. Imagine the music and happiness she could brought to the people. And yes she was beautiful inside and out. 😢
To really get the essence of Selena you need to listen to her live version of Como La Flor. Even if you don’t speak Spanish you will love and appreciate her performance. Selena was so captivating, losing her so senselessly still breaks my heart. Selena believed in a Paradise Earth as God’s promise for the future of mankind. I hope she is able to see that reality come true for her.
You are not wrong about the vibe you get. She was well known her humbleness. The guy in the video is a singer for "The Barrio Boyzz". It the video for "Donde Quieras Que Estés" ( wherever you are). You should react to it. It's a nice dance song.
When Selena decided to crossover to english, she found an American manager out of Nashville that wrote the song for her. He insisted that she sing this song which he wrote before he would contract with Selena. Is she died of a gunshot wound before the song was released. That is why this video is a collage of still images. Her family raised her bilingual.
Selina was not a native Spanish speaker. She was from the US. Her father was from Mexican ancestry and wanted Tobe a singer when he was young but the Americans o hid day didn't like him because he was Mexican and the Mexicans didn't like him because he was American singing American music. And broke into yltge American scene as a cross over artist. Same as Sharkira a few years later.. You shouldn't worry about the language issue. What counts most is the music and vocals. This song is in English, but let me recommend one of her Spanish songs. No Me Queda Mas.
Sadly she was murdered by her fan club president, just when she was taking off with these songs in English. Just to clarify, English is her first language.
Love your reaction! Please react to Selena Disco Medley live at the astrodome. Fun fact Selena designed clothing which included most of the outfits you see her perform in. She would even sew beads on herself! I would highly recommend watching some of her interviews as well. She had an phenomenal talent but her personality was just as great
I would say you haven't heard her more in English because she was tragically murdered just as her first English album was climbing the charts, so there's only two widely released English singles. The other one you should check out is, "Dreaming of You:". I don't speak Spanish either, but I do like her Spanish song "Bidi Bidi Bom Bom." Such a tragic loss makes it hard for people to continue to enjoy the beautiful music. I still can't listen to Whitney Houston without much sadness.
Nice reaction Maddy. That first airy note of this song gets me as it did you. The guitar you hear was played by Selena's husband, Chris. "Dreaming of You" is another of her english songs you will like. That boyfriend is a guy from Barrio Boyz that Selena did a video with, Donde Quire Estes".. in spanish but nice vibe...carry on Maddy
Maddy you are absolutely right, you just get a feeling about people and you just know they are good people. She was in early 20's I think when she lost her life. Way too young.
What a great reaction to one of the greatest losses in music! Selena is a cultural icon. A true & genuine legend in Latin/American music history! Billboard music named Selena as the “greatest Latin female artist of all time “ . There is a Selena museum in her hometown of Corpus Christi Texes . Please react to the following!! Do yourself a favor and watch the movie, Jennifer Lopez nailed it, I'm a 57 year old white guy and after seeing her story, this song makes my eyes well up every time I hear it, she was on her way to be one of the biggest stars of all time
The reason the video is clips of live performances and previous videos of her Spanish hits is because she was unfortunately murdered by her fan club president before videos for her first English language album could be made.
I love Selena's voice in this song, it brings a sense of peace. Have you ever listened to Gloria Estefan and The Miami Sound Machine Maddy? Suggest "Rhythm Is Gonna Get You" or "Conga". Gloria mostly sings in English. You know if you try to follow up on all the great music people will suggest it is going to take a lifetime . Nothing wrong with that.
Muchos amor por Selena. I'm trying at Spanish. I speak as much as I can write almost. Straight English American however, lots of Latinos amigos and Amiga
No hate, only love! It's just a recommendation. I am speaking from my own experience, since you miss out on a lot of great music if you limit yourself to English only. Not lecturing, just sharing my musings. Again, mucho amor! ❤
If you did not live in the Southwest or Northern Mexico, you probably wouldn't know her. She was a mega star in Houston. The Selena that can't sing was named after her. Her husband was the guitar player, a very talented and still popular musician.

I saw her live just months before she was murdered by her fan club manager. She performed with the Texas Tornadoes and Cheap Trick.
So sad
What was Selena like in person?
Please listen to more! Especially live. She was murdered at 23 about to be 24😢
So sad
I Love Selena. Continue vídeo reactions. Love your reaction. Selena was amazing 😢❤
Sadly she was murdered by her fan club president, just when she was taking off with these songs in English. Just to clarify, English is her first language.
So sad
Her last album was a English album to crossover. Spanish was her second language
Love your reaction! Please react to Selena Disco Medley live at the astrodome.
Fun fact Selena designed clothing which included most of the outfits you see her perform in. She would even sew beads on herself! I would highly recommend watching some of her interviews as well. She had an phenomenal talent but her personality was just as great
I live in San Antonio Texas and the city mourned for days after her murder 💔💔💔💔💔
Wow yes Selena has had a huge impact on so many🩷
I would say you haven't heard her more in English because she was tragically murdered just as her first English album was climbing the charts, so there's only two widely released English singles.
You should react to this. It’s one of her best performances
So good!
If Selena had lived there would have been no JLO.
Maddy you are absolutely right, you just get a feeling about people and you just know they are good people. She was in early 20's I think when she lost her life. Way too young.
Right! So sad ☺️
English was her first language, she had to learn spanish!
Wow I would have never guessed!
The movie about her life is so so good. You should definitely check it out. Great reaction
I bet!
@@MaddyReactionsdo a reaction to the movie
What a great reaction to one of the greatest losses in music! Selena is a cultural icon. A true & genuine legend in Latin/American music history! Billboard music named Selena as the “greatest Latin female artist of all time “ . There is a Selena museum in her hometown of Corpus Christi Texes . Please react to the following!!

So true!
If you are from 80-90s music lover this is one fav on a list......❤
Do yourself a favor and watch the movie, Jennifer Lopez nailed it, I'm a 57 year old white guy and after seeing her story, this song makes my eyes well up every time I hear it, she was on her way to be one of the biggest stars of all time
Jlo was is and will always be 🤮🗑💩
You gotta watch the movie now!!
Also for more Spanish music, I think you would like the Barrio Boyzz the song Una Ves Mas.
Her husband was in the band
WOW! That’s so sweet
Yup her husband is in the band I don't think that guy next to her is her husband.
This song was from her crossover album release after her death
Right on point! Such a tragedy, though!
No hate, only love! It's just a recommendation. I am speaking from my own experience, since you miss out on a lot of great music if you limit yourself to English only. Not lecturing, just sharing my musings. Again, mucho amor! ❤
Heyy if u loved this you will love "Dreaming of You" from Selena. it was another of her widely popular english songs!!
She was singing with the Barrio Boys, who were famous in the 90’s.
You can also react to her Disco Medley . You will love it, she has so much charisma
If you did not live in the Southwest or Northern Mexico, you probably wouldn't know her. She was a mega star in Houston. The Selena that can't sing was named after her.
Her husband was the guitar player, a very talented and still popular musician.
She was only 23 wen she was killed she was 2 days away from her 24th birthday & 2 weeks away from her second anniversary with chris perez
So sad
It was the other way around, she was killed on march 31 1995 and her birthday was April 16
@@Pedroferminebhotmail she was 23 wen she died I know my selena history
nice cover of a song by Gloria Estefan. She was the vocalist of a band called "Miami Sound Machine" - check out her music I know you'll love Gloria Estefan...romantic ballads, fun upbeat dance tunes super talented
Oooh! I’d love to! Send a request in of your favorite of her’s! 🤍
I'm not sure how to do that - send in a request - thought that was what I was doing here! LOL @@MaddyReactions
A legend chiming in with the Angel, what a Homecoming ❤
I’m from a small island called Chuuk in Micronesia. 🇫🇲 and let me tell you, Selena is a queen back home.
Oh wow!!
Your homeland seems like a beautiful place!
Great song choice to react maddy
Love her ❤❤❤
Omg you have to do more reactions to her live performances! I highly recommend Disco Medley at the Astrodome! She’s Amazing and her stage presence is off the charts good!

Listen to Captive Heart, she's great in that one too.
Selena was a fan of Donna Summer. I fell in love w her at first sight/sound. 🙏 Continued prayers for her family. 🙏
Her BF was the guitar player, which she married a few years befire she was killed at 23 yrs old..She was crossing iver from spanish to pop, r&b
It's been 8mths and I didn't read the comments, but those men are the 'Barrio Boys' her buddies and label mates shooting the video "dondequiera que estes" where ever you go, you should check 9ut the video it's fantastic!!!!
From the movie, English was her first language.
