Selena was actually sick when she recorded dreaming of you or recovering from a sickness and she killed it in one take. She actually asked her husband Chris to come hear it but he said he couldn’t because he was busy and she said oh okay :(. He wishes he would’ve just stopped what he was doing to hear it with her. Chris has gone through many mental struggles he said this song is the hardest to listen too, after she was murdered he would sleep with her picture by his side, he said she really wanted this English album, he has a book I recommend it... even though it’s heart wrenching. They were so young . They deserved more time she really loved her baby.

I had just been transferred to Okinawa when Selena was killed. I couldn't believe it. I am so glad that I got to see her in concert several times in San Antonio and El Paso, Tx. Every time I listen to her sing I wish I had a time machine to go back and try to save her so she could continue to make great music for us all. I think she was on the superstar level of Michael Jackson, Madonna, Elvis and even The Beatles. She really was doing great things and had so much more to give. She really is missed by so many.

This song just warps me back to when the movie came out and everyone started playing all her music again. I mean, not that they ever stopped. Her songs are always played at Mexican parties and weddings. But I remember very well how sad people were seeing the movie and being reminded of what was taken from her family, loved ones and her fans. I hope that black hearted witch never sees freedom and dies alone.

I was ten years old when Selena died and was in the way home from school when they announced it on the radio across the nation….word spread SO FAST I remember them releasing this song in her honor! Now whenever I hear this song I can’t help but almost cry. The mix of pure anger and sadness for what happened to her ughhhh!!
She was SUCH an angel in real life. My friends family who were Mexican packed up and Drove with their whole family to Texas for her public viewing!
She was so beautiful in her casket too omg….

I remember coming home from school on March 31 (day before my mother’s birthday) and seeing the news coverage of the standoff in Corpus Christi, and asking my mother what that was about, and she was like Selena was shot in Corpus Christi well I’d never been there and didn’t know who Selena was at the time. But the news coverage especially in Texas was huge.
In January 1996, I was in middle school and was put in a Spanish elective class, the teacher whose Mexican-American and a Selena fan was so obsessed with her, we probably spent more time watch Selena music videos and documentaries than learning Spanish.
When the film was about to be released on VHS she went to the store to preorder it so we could watch it in class.

We would drive down to Texas y todo mis primas would be rockin' selena's looks, y mi hermana's would be bringing her music and style back to the hood and at the same time my grandparents (both sides) even turnt up on it. At that time Denver radio stations didn't play tejano music (only northerno) so we were lucky to be in the know waaaaay before mainstream music. Selena is our Elvis, our Beatles, our Michael. I was about 4 years old when my Tia walked into the living room and gave us the tragic news of her passing. She turned on the radio and sure enough they reported it on KLOVE (Spanish radio station in LA) I remember how devastated the radio host sounded and right after he played “Dreaming of You”. I don’t think I understood the concept of death at that age but I looked at all the adults in the room and you could feel the sadness. Definitely a devastating moment that lives clear as day in my core memory.

I didn’t know nothing about Selena until my Mom and Sisters watched the Movie. Damn shame she died so young. Age 23. Her killer, Yolanda Saldivar will be eligible for Parole in 2025. I hope it’ll be denied.
