I’ve watched a lot of reviews of this particular car and I must say that yours has been the most entertaining and informative I’ve seen. Well done, keep at it.
Thank you for being the first reviewer who said the automatic speed limit detection is useful. (Many others just think they are entitled to run over the speed limit and whine they have to switch off the feature every time the engine starts. lol)
Picked mine up today! 3rd Swift and your review really helped me before ordering to see the newer elements that mine is missing, as well as the features they shared.
I think there a wide open gap in the market for car focused, rather than personality based, road tests of normal cars. We’ve got Harry’s Garage for Uber cool cars, and he’s exceptionally gifted at presenting them, but ever since Top Gear started cocking around more than reviewing, there’s a gap for a knowledgeable enthusiast like yourself to review the mainstream cars most people actually buy, rather than lease. Big thumbs up from me👍 Would be interested in you doing more used reviews too, your eclectic tastes could be quite thought provoking!
Brendan - thank you so much for your kind words - it is massively appreciated - the channel focus will remain Dad and i fixing up our old cars and keeping them on the road but i really enjoyed making this little video - thank you again and i hope you enjoy some others coming to the channel soon
Great review, Jon - very friendly and informative. It's a long time since I owned a Suzuki (a 1981 SC100 Whizzkid, £2700 brand new on the road) but this is in a different league. I'd narrowed my choice of next new car down to a Renault Clio, a Toyota Aygo X - and this. Your comments have convinced me that this is the one to go for and I'd be very surprised if I'm disappointed with it. Thanks again.
Can I just say I love your diction and overall presentation. I seriously do. Sending regards from Czech Republic, please keep at it, its a really pleasant and well informed review.
Actually i really enjoyed the review, to be honest I wasn't sure i would, but I did! I reckon you could forge a new career as a voice over man 😂. But remember your roots... we all love the videos fixing up cars with your dad. That's what it's all about showing what the average guy can do in his driveway!
Thanks Charles appreciate that. I do actually have a background in radio as I was a radio presenter for over 16 years 🤣 glad it hasn't worn off. Roots will not be forgotten. The channel always has been and always will be about my passion for my collection and just tinkering with my Dad but also ... I kinda fancied something different as an experiment 🤣 - Dad's already told me I'm a sell out 😊
Good review, been thinking about one for my retirement , you answered one of the questions, I had about an option for a spare wheel . Will never buy a car without one.
Good review, interesting that chops garage had one from his local dealer so good to get 2 different styles of review. Good option for a new car buyer, probably better than some of the other manufacturers out there
Well done Jon a great review and I must say the new Swift looks a great looking car my brother had a Suzuki baleno many years ago and never ever had a problem with it he since moved to Toyota because the nearest service dept to where he was in Leicestershire was 100 miles away at the time I would definitely look into one Look forward to the next one!

It looks fresh and modern, but I still prefer my previous gen swift 1.0 turbo with 6 speed auto. I really do prefer its powertrain and styling to this new model. Great and interesting review 👍
shame they don't offer different engine options, a turbo would really lift the driving pleasure. well done on your presentation and I hope you get plenty more cars to review.
I have the previous model SZ5 Mild Hybrid with 1.0L 3 cyl Boosterjet Engine which has 109bhp. Got to say very underwhelmed by the new model, it just looks like a facelift of my car. Slightly different at the front, and the tail lamps slightly different as well. Interior is almost identical apart from the larger infotainment screen. Overall the car is not that much different. The main disappointment is the engine only delivering a measly 81bhp, don't get me wrong I love my Swift, but to release a new model almost identical with a lesser powered engine that is so much slower is a backwards step by Suzuki. BTW having now had a test drive in the new model a few weeks ago and can confirm it is like a snail on valium compared to The 1.0 SZ5 Boosterjet Engine, I was actually shocked at how much slower it was. Again I absolutely love my current Swift as it has everything, but current owners will be massively put off by a ridiculous loss in performance of a so called new model, and many like myself will not purchase this 'clone' of the previous model with a woefully underpowered engine.
Thanks for watching and thanks for your comment. I sadly can't comment on the previous model as I've not had the opportunity to ever drive one. Glad to hear you love your swift 😊
Do you get 60mpg combined like this new 1.2 3 cylinder engine ? Also one of the issues with the swift has been high insurance group (compared to a Citroen C1 or Volkswagen Up!) both of which only have 60hp 1.0L engines and are even slower than this car, maybe They're trying to fill the gap of small, sensible economical and cheap on insurance supermini anyway 60mpg is as much as my Toyota Yaris hybrid gets so it must be a fantastic engine !
This review is an extremely well presented and put together review Jon. My hobbit wife is considering one and only watched this and scores of others wanted to find out about the seating height for the driver. While I am 6' 3" I'm sure I would be fine as you didnt mention a young to the contrary but the hobbit is a mere 4' 10" and struggles to see over the dash on many cars.
Thanks for watching Ian and thanks for the kind feedback - hopefully your wife gets on ok with it! I have never considered seat height for shorter people, like yourself im tall and so my concern has always been headspace!
@@JonCoupland that's fine Jon. Apologies fkr my spelling errors...just big hands on a tiny keypad on my phone!! Yes, she's considering the car to replace her Suzuki Ignis which u fortunately was written off (she didn't approve of a bend one foggy morning 🤣) a few months ago. She was on a waiting list for a particular colour for a few months till Suzuki in their madness has cancelled the order as they've now stopped the model???!!! An EU directive I believe). Not sure about the car but a really good first review! For a small car, it is nearly at your shoulder height, almost the size of a small SUV like a Ford Puma, and I do wish designers would stop making cars look angry. Perfectly competent but it seems like it doesn't do anything particularly well. Which probably means it will sell in huge quantities. Fine as a short term hire car but really wouldn't spend my own money on it. 6/10

Great review - seems like you've been doing it for years😃 The Swift: Inside is lovely - a good improvement. Outside is just ugly - the individual parts look great - just not together.
@@JonCoupland it's funny because it's about to be released in South Africa with the top of the range GLX CVT Automatic coming in at £12,000 why can't we pay £12,000 brand new 😂
There really isn't much to explain sadly. Suzuki claim it saves 8-10% more fuel by having a battery that charges itself, by recovering energy that would normally be lost during braking and deceleration and storing it in a second battery. It's not overly worth shouting about
@@JonCoupland got a 2021 sandero stepway with lpg. No issues in 50k km. It's definitely got a cheap feeling, but this Suzuki isn't far off. Which is surprising, considering the price
