    One thing I want to comment on, it is so good to see a woodworker like yourself that keeps his hand tools sharp, like the draw knife used to remove the bark. I've watched other woodworkers and it's painful to watch them struggle with a dull cutting tool. I enjoy your videos very much. Keep up the good work.

    • @mcremona
      @mcremona  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I don't see much logic in trying to use a tool that's not sharp. Wouldn't be as pleasant to use. Thanks!

    What a great way to preserve and utilize smaller pieces with really special grain patterns. I can imagine the number of such scraps and cutoffs that would otherwise get tossed out.

    Matt, I really enjoy your videos! i started building furniture as a hobby in 1983. I make a lot of stuff over the years. My pride and Joy are two things, a cherry roll top secretary desk for my wife, and three quartersawn white oak tool chests. Also I no longer have a shop any longer, I can relate to what you are doing.

    I don't know if envy is the right word but I envy you being able to work wood as you do, I so wish I was able to have or use a shop similar to yours, I like to create things out of wood, I always have liked woodworking. Great work by the way, I love the shows you make it brings me that much closer to what I would love to do.

      You'll get the feel for it after a while. Just keep the mix ratios right which is easy if you have the pumps. I've been through many gallons of West System through the years from boat building to resin augmented turnings - just don't let any thicker pours get hot while they cure. I wish you well.

    Hey Matt. I see in the video what looks like some soft or somewhat punky or rotten areas. I thought that one was not supposed to put epoxy over these areas as they may flake out later. I'm probably wrong so it may just look like those areas are bad. Always watch your videos and learn a lot. I live about 60 miles east of Mpls so I'm probably not to far from you. I have some oak slabs that would work good for this project. Thanks for the video.

      Colin Knecht uses kidney beans for larger voids. Sand makes a ton of sense!

    I'm watching videos like this before attempting my first epoxy pour, and I enjoy, with envy, your log milling videos because I, too, love the beauty of wood with all the different figures which add character to otherwise straight grained wood.
    I do have a question about this video. After your initial pour, you went back with some fast setting epoxy to do those small cracks and holes. Can you tell me what epoxy you used? Did you just mix Ecopoxy with more than normal hardener or a different epoxy all together?

    Beautiful! What is it made out of? All I heard was urban tree. ??? I have milled a 10" Hickory and an 8' Ash that have been drying out in my garage all Summer. Are those materials acceptable for chacuterie boards? I know that you need to stay away from some hardwoods because of how they can collect bacteria. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Can't thank you enough for this great video. God Bless. 🙂
