The scariest thing in this game is the fact that Henry drives with his backpack in the truck bed with the tailgate down.
You can put it up actually, if you go to the back of the truck and then drop the backpack in he will put the tailgate up

Firewatch is one of those games where you dont expect to be impacted so emotionally right off the bat. Mark definitely put legit empathy and thought into those choices.

to be fair he does talk to the camera for a very long time and its an inanimate object, if you add all the amount of content he made to that time that would be basically a few months of speaking to a camera

I’ve been there. My great-grandma didn’t know me, she didn’t know my dad, she didn’t know her own son. She thought I was a complete stranger sitting in her living room and she turned back to watching tv. It’s hard. We didn’t live nearby. My grandparents did, they were over every day but it was never certain whether she would know them or not. I regret not seeing her more, but I don’t know if I would feel better if I had.

my grandmother is really bad with cancer now and they cant give her anymore treatments or anything for the cancer itself but she takes lots of medicine for other things and it really is hard watching her, like i will always be there for her while she is still here but it does hurt a lot, especially knowing that she probably wont make it for another year but you dont really know when she will pass and it breaks my heart into pieces.

8 years... wow. I used to watch this gameplay on repeat when I was 16, and coming back to this all these years later just brought tears to my eyes. One of the best games of 2016 and such a great time, would do anything to come back to this era.

That prologue felt like I was watching the start of Disney's UP movie all over again 😰😰😰
The intro in Up was a lot less corny and over-the-top, and didn't seem out of place compared to the rest of the experience. Not to mention the dialogue of the inquisitive woman on the walkie-talkie seemed a bit unbelievable and unprofessional.

It's more like a visual novel than what can typically be considered a game. There's basically no replay value since the actual gameplay only requires you to walk around. If you've seen it once then that's basically all you need.

God I watched this while it was being posed live and it's so hard to believe it's been so long. This is definitely a comfort series for me, I still remember so much of this to this day. This is my comfort video when I want something in the background to not really pay attention to. I love how Mark tells stories of his childhood and relationship with nature, and just vibes with the beauty of the game.
I love how this game doesn’t try to make us become the character (Henry is clearly his own person and sometimes we have to make choices that we wouldn’t have). Henry is an asshole, he loves to take the easy way out, and he likes to be taken care of. But he was put in a situation where he had to take care of someone else and couldn’t handle it. I know that’s very simplified. It’s interesting to see him dealing with the emotional aftermath of that.

I think it toys with horror elements, never to actually scare you shitless, but to just add that little bit of needed suspense to the game sometimes

I don’t know why, but this game always, when I played it, when I watched mark or jack play it, gave me an eerie chill down my spine, like there was something always watching you. It’s completely terrifying and I know this isn’t a horror game but it feels like it.
This game is a part of my childhood I remember being 12 13 and after my friend would go offline after playing dying light for hours I would put this on, at the time my brother was seeing a girl so even tho we shared a room he wasn't in it much so I felt like I had a room to myself. I would have my set up near this big window so I could just look out it at the night sky with this playing in the background
I'm now 17 with my first job and it felt like time has flew by without me even realising, it is a weird world
To anyone who sees this I hope I've created a vibe you can see

11:49 speaking as someone who has a relative with dementia, locking them in the house is absolutely the right choice. If they get out without your knowledge, they could seriously hurt themselves. My grandmother has it and she once left her house and walked about the length of 2 football fields to my house because she thought she was alone in her house. My grandfather was asleep and didn't know she left. She could easily have caught her foot on a rock and fallen and broken her neck. For their safety, they need to be kept somewhere where someone can keep a close eye on them.
