You don’t HAVE too. They might recommend it mainly just as a piece of mind but the issues aren’t as common as people make them out to be.... the general consensus is the lower mileage/ones that are weekend cars that only get drive once a week, or 1-2 times per month tend to have more RB issues than ppl who daily and drive theirs more often. My e90 m3 for instance... I’m at 148k miles on factory RB and TA. No record of them ever being done.... sadly my bank 1 TA is on its way out. Since it’s started getting hotter being that it’s summertime it goes into limp mode at least once a day since it sits in the open sun all day long... but I know quite a few ppl in the groups who have 120k+ miles on their s65/s68 with factory RB/TA.... that 60k interval is for piece of mind.
I just picked up my own M6 Coupe for $9000 USD via wholesale as well. It's in really good shape, running like a dream over 1,000 km in 3 weeks, with no issues (currently) aside from a misfire that was fixed with a new spark plug. I hope that this car will treat you guys well, this is my second M6 and I'm absolutely in love with these cars. If you get it running nicely, and maintain it, it's an incredibly killer sleeper supercar, or alternatively, a pretty easy flip for around $20,000. I'm keeping mine, look forward to seeing what you guys do with this one!

I bought my E60 M5 for 4500. Me and my friend literally rebuilt it from the crank up, with no prior experience of breaking a engine down that far. Hes had two other E60 M5s so we knew somethings about it. We finsihed rebuilding it maybe 5 months ago and ive put 7k miles on it. It is a truly unique experience to drive a 4 door car that has a V10 in it.
Well that's cheaper then what I paid for mine, $14.5k. But mine runs. It's got issues too but they're getting fixed so not a problem. On that transmission. What you need to do is see if you hear a noise when you open up the door after you've turned off the engine and close the door And the lights and everything go off. If you don't hear noise your hydraulic pump isn't working. And that could be a fuse because you put in a battery without programming it. Or it could be the motor on the hydraulic pump.
All old beamers have problems. I think the best thing to do is go on forums to replace some things ahead of time since they can be really bad if they break. And besides that just take proper care of the car.
@@basdewildt7973 Yeah I know. That's why I saught out one of the cheapest ones from a dealer I could find under 80k miles but still looked good. I had it inspected first. But I bought it knowing full well I was probably going to end up putting 10 to 15k just in preventative maintenance. With as many upgraded longer lasting parts as I could. And then more than that in performance parts. Because no matter what it would still come out 10, 15, 20 even 30k cheaper than a brand new sports car. Plus the interior on these cars is top notch with the full leather treatment. The infotainment and speakers can all be modernized easily as well.

My E90 has 111k miles and the interior upholstery is still pristine, still smells new inside too. A lot of people just don't keep themselves clean or are messy.
I still want one of these to go with my e90 m3.... I had a chance 4-5 years ago to buy an e60 m5 for 11k but passed on it bc I assumed something major was wrong with it... now after owning an e90 m3 for 2 years (as of next Saturday) I be decided I still want one lol.
