I own a Mercedes CL600 from 2000, is an S-Class Coupe. Massage seats with airco built in, adaptive cruise control, bi-xenon, tv-tuner, Alcantara headliner, soft close on doors and boot, keyless go, double glazed windows, active body control (hydraulic suspension) and sooo much more options! Has good mileage because of a thing called zundauszetser (automatically shuts down 6 cilinders whilst cruising). The fact that I’m a handy guy that doesn’t have to rely on dealership maintenance makes this car perfect for me. If you’re not that handy and have to rely on mechanics for every small repairs you’d be a poor guy within no time!!
I daily drive my 1997 W140 S600 and it always put a big smile in my face, whenever i floor the pedal and let the engine sing. I luv the video my friend.
Thank God I have a friend who works on Mercedes, Audi, and BMW engines in his garage. I can work on my own ride without paying thousands for labor. I only need to supply the parts and beer.
The coolest will always be that 8-Series. The Audi A/S8’s never seem to change, which a great thing... ageless. My E38 (w/M-Sport pkg) always got more attention than my Porsche. And having put 148,000 kms on mine... I have a soft spot for 7-Series. If you wanted to be invisible... I would consider finding a VW Phaeton. To most people, they’ll think its a Passat or even some... a Jetta. Great list! Thanks for the video.
I'm in Italy and just 1 year ago or in the period this video was uploaded, it was easy to get a W140 S600 Mercedes for less than 8k€, in germany i found some even at 5k€, but the current used vehicles crysis has occured and these cheap and reliable Mercedes V12 (strange to be fair, mercedes and reliability never come together), skyrocketed like every other car on the used market, i cannot wait for this crysis to come to an end....
20 years ago, I had a customer who’s wife ran over something and tore up one of the rear mufflers on his BMW 850. When I checked on the price of the muffler, it was over $2,000! And that was 20 years ago.
I've got the 850i, bduget about $1500 per year for parts, not really bad considering it was a $95K car new in 91! once it is sorted, it is very reliable.
Don't buy a v12 unless you are good at parts scavenging and can perform all your own mechanical work, then they are wonderful. The cost of the car is just the entrance ticket. I have the fastest 90's Jaguar, a rare 1996 xj12, last year of the Jag V12's. Fabulous to drive, requires a lot of tlc to maintain. New tires, change all the cooling hoses, check the fuel lines, suspension bushings, new starter motor - the look big, stately and robust but they are a lot of work to maintain.
Go for the S600 NOT the S65 AMG since it costs more because of the AMG badge, don't worry the S600 came standard with a V12 and similar HP for less money, also they are famous for sounding like f1 cars with a nice exhaust, just search "S600 f1 sound " and you will find it also i'd go for the w140 since its older less tech but bullet proof like all older Mercedes, also remember you loose a couple of hp because the w140 is older but again you gain a LOT in reliability.
The e65 V12 Mechanically very reliable engine, its the crappy electrics which can mess things up. Just don't let BMW technicians near it. DIY is the best way or trusted mechanic. It's just nuts and bolts
I have a challenge for you my friend. How about a video of cheap cars for big and tall fellas. Because its easy to recommend getting a big truck but sometimes the budget does not goes that far. I'm 6'1 and last car I got was a compact 2017 yaris which I could barely fit but I got swindle by the dealer using the classic this is what we have for you. Thanks for your videos.
You mentioned the A8L, but forgot to mention the Bentley Continental GT with the same motor. And it can be found under $30k. Those cheap ones get expensive to fix tho.
You speak so Illy of automatics, I love a good 3 speed auto. I understand the appeal of a manual, but I'm all for an automatic (if it's the right automatic).
BMW 760 is still a great driving machine. Better still 750 V12, rarer and rarer ... I have one. Mercedes are passé. Ever since it got Chrysler, they have gone down the drains. I bought my first in 1962, age 20. I went through quite a few. My ultimate: 300SEL, customized 6.9 litres. Even today, at 82, I still regret selling it. Aston Martin, a car that never made it. Jag: buy two in case the one does not start ... The car of cars is the VW Phaeton W12 ... It is a supreme driving machine, like a thoroughbred stallion, that anyone can drive to the hilt without fear of a mishap. They are the best buys as real luxury cars. For 20k Euro one can pick a very good one with low mileage ... If I did not have BMW 750il V12, I would have bought VW Phaeton W12.
I guess everyone has to choose which negative they can live with. I myself would look into a 750 series BMW because we love pop up headlights. 🤔 😉👍 Still I would try to shoot for the most reliable with the least repair bills possible. 😁
A V12 is great but if you want horsepower and reliability there are always Ford and Chevy V8s because there is no replacement for displacement. Up to an 8.8L 2800HP turbo V8 for the price of one of these cars.
Buy my 04 S600 V12 biturbo 116k miles 10,999 Fb Nati lights out Cristurean car is in great shape, has most of the expensive jobs already done on it, fresh abc fluid and tune new batteries wipers and thousands in maintenance done in the last year. 495 hp and 600 torque rare Java exclusive leather beautiful car inside and out.

this should be a warning video to young kids with a few dollars never ever buy a 12 cylinder car unless your buying a brand new car under warranty ... old Mercedes and jags are some of the most expensive cars to maintain ... don't buy 12 cylinder cars because a guy on social media said they are Kool ... older S600 that might look Kool have so many downfalls not only the engine but the airbags go for 1000$ each bag and thats used but when something goes wrong with that engine its in the 1000's for simple things
Those cars can't hold a candle to the LEGENDARY 2JZGTE. Expensive euros that cost over 50K you can get them cheap, because they are vulnerable to breaking down. 2JZGTE can be built to hold close to 2000 HP.
I just had to put a list of better (maybe non v12) cars that are not as much of a money pit 1. 07-09 Merc s420 / s500 2. Bmw 840ci 3. 07-09 Merc CL500 4. 04-08 Audi S8 (lambo V10) 5. 07-08 Jaguar XK Coupé 6. VW Phaeton V10 7. 99-03 CL55 AMG
Replace the wiring on the jag and it is better then all these cars on the list. Has more power and handling potential, a smoother ride, better mileage, and 10x more reliable then other cars on the list, especially the bmw's, maybe the 850i is the only semi reliable bmw on the list. Jags v12 is one of the most reliable, long lasting, power capable v12's around, they're comparable to Cosworth's new v12's (such as the mclaren t50 or the AM Valkyrie) that have infinite more research and money into them yet still have many similarities 4 decades ahead. The jag v12's make north of 700hp effortlessly if they actually wanted to, as it has been done many times over. Doing the same for the bmw's will cost a significant amount more given the break down of everything else surrounding it and the actual upgrades itself. The audi w12 was a cool concept but is also going to be very difficult to work on if you're wanting to do it yourself, and if not, good luck finding a mechanic that isn't going to butcher the job past the basics. Should gain knowledge before misinforming people, looks stupid. And these cars all go for a lot more.
