I would select first kid who looks like kid everyone would like and say he is IT. After this he would become IT because of social pressure and because he is JUST A KID. So it really doesn't mather who he chooses. Anyway his decision will be right.
I was shocked that this child was taken from his family, yes, his parents gave permission after manipulation and persuasion by the monk because they were in awe of the monastery and Lamas but it was not what the child wanted or needed and the mother was obviously upset and the child distressed when he realised his parents were leaving him.. I didn't know this child abduction by any other name happened; and Westerners, such as the film star Richard Gere were seen giving credence to this child taking.
Sorry but you've got it all wrong. Look up the child today--who is 20. Incredibly well-adjusted and loved. His parents were able to visit him all the time and when asked if he wanted to return or stay at the monastery he always chose the latter. And why not? Excellent education and surrounded by love with a great future ahead of him.
