- Is the first true road bike version of a mini velo bicycle? Join me as I ride the bike and meet then man who not only owns the brand but designed it too, Stijn Deferm from Belgium, who now calls Taiwan home. Former 3 times Belgian national downhill champion, much sought after bike designer, Stijn decided to create a mini velo for himself, and in the process created a bike that has garnered a cult following, especially in Japan.

At 6'4" I wanted a large frame minivelo. I also wanted to ride buses and trains. Friend in Maine helped design a paratrooper with 20" wheels.
Have a 20inch cheap second hand foldable. Love the riding position. Interested in the Giant Idiom but no longer sold new in Taiwan. Gonna go check these out tomorrow at the Taipei Cycling expo

Cool guy and bikes. I've been wanting one for a while but they basically don't exist in New Zealand. Anyone know if it would be possible to build up a lightweight, flat-bar, geared mini-velo using a bmx frame? Budget for this is limited and I'm happy to shop at Aliexpress for carbon fibre parts.

I live in NYC. I sent Stijn Cycles a message wondering if he would build a bike for me. I wonder if he builds custom commissions. Also, how much does Stijn bikes weigh? .... I know. I'm a weight weenie.

There is nothing like it, he says. However, the Moulton variants, Bike Friday, the Pacific Reach, and now the Vello bike are all similar in many ways. And they all fold or separate!
