My only complaint about the game is that animal hunting doesn’t feel rewarding anymore. All your progression is based off points, including inventory space. Which is fine but I feel less of a need to explore because of it. And I really miss the boss animal hunts
Animal hunting is still great for money, and is by far the fastest way to earn cash. But yeah, hunting doesn't play as big of a role like in previous FC games where you used skins to increase your inventory.

Gage Price I completely agree. I actually loved the grind of hunting for animal skins in FC3 & 4. Now I don't feel as compelled to hunt for animals.

It's like that because of a good reason. I think they made it that way to put into account of how there isn't that much poaching and unregulated hunting of animals in the U.S. People here basically... EXPERIENCE them here more than hunt them, and watch out for for them to avoid getting the bad cross hair of them (hazards to look out for). Honestly... it would feel out of character if it was the same like the other games. You can hunt them. It's just that we don't have the fur trade anymore. If you hunt something you are mostly doing it out of sport, fun, want its hide for your luxury, or it is something that was endangering you or messing up your property.
If this was in the 1800s we would have that old system. It's not so it's changed to adapt the location's time period and conditions.

I’m always amazed when a game review doesn’t mention sound design or music. Especially here, the role that music has throughout the game is really important.
Yes, the theme that plays in the pause menu is amazing. The soundtrack was one of the best things about this game, I'm usally a Huge classic FPS known as Boomer shooter but I really liked Far Cry 5 for what it was.
Yeah. The atmosphere on the game was just amazing.

This game feels a bit like Dying Light from the smooth control & visuals with a touch of Fallout by looting.
It's been months or more where i haven't had the urge to continue playing a game after a couple of hours just as i'm ready to take a break. This game is just so damn fun.

Just finished the campaign story. Once again truly great story. Also amazing guns, and I also love how you customize cars planes, and helicopters. It’s also great how they added more customization options in the map editor!

hm you should check out the map editor in the arcade mode, its pretty cool, they added in a bunch of new itmes, like palm trees, and new buildings, also the weather edit settings have been advanced!

It's a 100 point score system. It's the same as giving it 89/100. 9/10 or 90/100 are just arbitrary numbers.
I'll never understand people who camplain "why not just give it a X" when it's obvious that the reviewer precisely didn't want to give the game that score because it wasn't at that level.
Far Cry 5 got an 8.9 because it was a great game but not so great that it's deserving of a 9/10 of above.

Western Montana, yes. Eastern Montana is much flatter and more wide open. This setting seems more Flathead Valley in looks and feel.
I am not a fan of the southern accents people seem to think we folks in Montana sound like.
I feel like the people on the game are more Texan, but I dont live in Montana so....
I think this narrative is very dark and an awesome story. He forgets that the main antagonist does have a motive and must have missed the point. 10/10

Nahhh I bought it the day after release and it's worth the 60 bucks, esp if you're going to be putting 30+ hours into it. I was really happy with my AC origins purchase, and I got 74% completion, a total of 84 hours!! so that was well worth it. Considering Far Cry 5 is shorter I guess I can see where you are coming from.
Michael Castellan Personally, a 60 dollar singleplayer game for me has to be packing at least 50 hours in just playing the game. Preferably upwards of 100-200 hours for full completion. Not sure about the initial comment, but for me, I would buy this game at 40 dollars maybe, even then not likely because far cry in my opinion has been growing more stale and safe after 3.

Tasin Rashid maybe it has to do with them making the exact same formulaic game again. If they broke up the monotony I bet they would get a higher score. And you're right, COD doesn't deserve a 9 most years, but I don't think this does either. What other FPS deserve a 9+? They gave Overwatch a 9.4.
Taylor Jones I think doom 2016 was great and innovative.Overwatch wasn't. It's just an phenomenon that blew up.
However, farcry doesn't need much innovation cause it's more about adventure, atmosphere and the feel.
Only thing they can improve I guess is the AI.
Tasin Rashid I agree about Doom, it's one of my favorite FPS of all time, but (I know it's not the point of what you're saying) them giving it a 9 instead of a 8.whatever wouldn't make the game any better or worse for me. I think they give games higher scores for their "impact" on the world as well. Fortnite got millions of casual and non gamers to play games together. Overwatch created an eSport league. COD is one of the best selling games every year, and best selling franchise of all time. I think that bumps up the score. Doom was an amazing experience for me, but I must admit, the online was kinda bogus. The story by itself was incredible though.

Played it the for the first time today. The faith music on background, the whole storyline telling those days story made it the most epic , great series of far cry for me by now.
The story line missions are just soo repetitive. Take over and liberate an area. Then go do it again and again

You will still have gullible people who will take IGN's word as gospel, go out buy the next copy & paste job. Sites like this are part of the reason the gaming industry lacks innovation. IGN are a bunch of sellouts with no credibility, who enjoy pulling the wool over peoples eyes.
They're made for your typical fps fan who wants a good story and an immersive open world. This is what they have given us and 90% of it is top quality stuff. I do think it deserves to be highly rated because everything is enjoyable to play. I don't find it repititive because it has enough variety of different playstyles and the maps aren't too overloaded with genenric looking outposts. For Far Cry 5 specifically the bases are much more well designed and there is more variety than in previous installments.
Just finished and was the same Far Cry fun as always, but the cult and all the Seed family gives the series a really weird tone and atmosphere that really made me enyoy it more, amazing game. Now, lets see what Far Cry 6 has to offer...
they should consider going back to Africa for the next one, the animals, maybe a civil war, tribal voodoo themes maybe?

I much prefer Far Cry games but I've also played Far Cry 2,3, Blood Dragon, and 4 already so they're starting to feel a little bit samey to me (except for 2). I think if you haven't played that many Far Cry games I'd definitely go with Far Cry 5, but if you have you're in the same boat as me. I played 3 hrs of Watch Dogs 2 demo and I enjoyed it more than I expected.

Pros:
1.Great graphics
2.Great story
3.Fun gameplay
4.Very unforgetable antagonist as always (like Vaas Montenegro & Pagan Min from the previous games)
5.Beautiful setting
6.Pretty long game
7.No Radio Towers (it was nice in FC 3&4 but they can't put that in every game)
8.Huge open world
Cons:
1.The main character has no personality (no name, never talks, very forgettable)
2.Too many enemies & car patrols
3.No crafting
4.Skinning animals only gives you money (and a little bit of skills perks)
5.No skinning animation
6.No mini map
7.It's not that easy to get money (the game forces you to do boring prepper stashe's quests for extra cash)
8.Very messy game (there is no order to the story missions)
9.Some story missions feels like side missions (or just not that connected to the story)

my favorite far cry. felt like an open world war game. only game to do it. and I loved the dark endings.
With the Resistance mod you can replace EVERY spawn with enemies/friendlies, it feels so insanely hectic then lol.
The 3rd Jacob cut scene that is unescapable is just about the worst intrusions on a video game ever...the game is great but this felt like I had a great taste of ice cream and then found out the flavor was cream mixed with stale liver.

Far cry 5 should have given cash bonuses for both going all stealthy but also go in loud and kill every reinforcement that will show up. Would make it feel like I had more freedom because I could go in any way I wanted. But love this game.

The only thing I hate about this game is how every single enemy is gone when you kill a boss (take over a region). Literally zero enemies spawn... what am I supposed to do when I beat the game? Unless they have new game plus or a reset for enemy patrols.

This game deserves Like 9.3 or higher
Honestly for me what would have made this game better would probably be the choice to arrest or kill every Seed (John,Jacob,Faith) when you confront them. Secondly for every confrontation with the Seeds the creators would be more creative, what I mean by this is the fact that when John,Jacob,or Faith dies they always bleed out, I wish they would have been more creative and had totally different ways the Seeds died. Thirdly would be the choice for Campaign to be either with the Resistance or Edins Gate. Like if you with Edins Gate you would get a totally different experience and the main villains would be like the Priest or The Sheriff. Other than that Far Cry 5 was an absolute amazing and utterly jaw dropping game from beginning to end.

People dont seem to remember that far cry 2,3, and i think 4 had map editors. Far cry 2's was the best though due to the parkour maps and escape maps you could play with like 10 friends
