Derek Trucks shows just how amazing he is playing slide lead guitar. First saw him playing with Clapton in around 2005ish, didn’t know who he was at the time but he kinda took the show! Will never forget it!
I saw them in Memphis in 1972. Berry Oakley was still alive. I think Captain Beyond opened. They were both on Capricorn Records at that time. They put on a great concert. The band was still reeling from Duane's death in October 1971. Berry died a few months after I saw them in November 1972. I feel very fortunate to have seen both of these great bands in concert.
I'm of course totally aware of Duane, Dickey and Barry, and I've heard their version of the song a million times. That said, I'm not stucked in the past, and I'm able to enjoy todays version of the band just as much.
Smokin hot, some real guitar playin goin on here. Original band great too, percussion, keyboards vocals, spectacular performance. Don't hear guitar much playin like this anymore, takes real skill, can't fake that.

There is and will never be another Duane. But damn it I tell you, Derek Trucks is the closest thing you will ever hear to him. The mans playing is immaculate. Miss the brothers, miss DTB...Now there is TTB which just isn't the same man. At least Mule is still alive and well.
Yup, I knew that. The point I was trying to make that his first name was Berry, not Barry. Followed on bass by Lamar Williams, Allen Woody, and then Otiel. Seems like bass was the cursed position in the band, as both Lamar and Allen also died very young. And anyone who thinks that Otiel isn't a great bassist must really believe that Oakley's first name really was Barry.

Love the Fillmore concert, but give Derek and Warren some credit, they're certainly no slouches. What would be the sense of replaying the Fillmmore Concert verbatim? Greg can't quite growl the way he used to, but he's still better than allot. Just my opinion,

DT is even better. It's almost like Duane Allman died, thereby realizing that He was actually the Brahman. So, He went back to sleep and dreamed of being DT. Trucks is transcendent.
