When is it that we usually begin to wonder about the meaning of life? Perhaps the question arises as our daily lives get disjointed, such as by war and natural disaster or personal failure and disease - leaving us anxious with the need to hold onto an easy answer to remedy our suffering. But where do we find a meaningful answer?

Adopting the Buddha's principle of "do no harm" is the single easiest way to give one's life meaning. Many thanks.

If you wanna be a loser and weakling subscribe to that belief and "do no harm" and watch as people capable of cruelty destroy you.

I've watched a couple of your videos and have now subscribed. Being a lifelong student of philosophy, both western and eastern, I can appreciate these on another level. In the cases of "existential philosophy", I often reflect upon Hermann Hesse's 'Siddhartha' where we learn that life isn't so much about the destination, it's all about the journey. And, I suppose, if one is able to appreciate this, all might not necessarily be well but at the very least "understood". Thank you!

The comment about committing to a cause, and succeeding in making some change, but that it is barely perceptible- certainly jumped out. After we leave an organisation where we worked, or when we die, how quickly most of us are forgotten!

I watch Ikiru once around every decade, and it now works for me as a quick test of Roschach to measure the way other people thinks, the depth of their view... Your score is certainly high, only the fact of noticing and watching that now unknown masterpiece says something good about you, but you are far from the top. You just caress and play with the pets of every aficionado philosopher and many of the professionals: "meaningful life", "life worth living"... I spent myself too many years practicing right the same philosophical masturbation, I consider it the first stage in every person who start to think by himself. The mechanical white rabbit that can be seen in this movie was the bomb that got rid of so much philosophical cuteness.

The thought of death is so gut wrenching that people would prefer to never acknowledge it till it is the day before they die that to actually internalise it's true meaning i.e. you and I will literally become manure all our experiences, joy, sadness, grief, love will be lost with us. It makes life look like a joke played by some immortal being on human saying " Yeah buddy you gonna die, watchu gonna do bout it and get this you are aware of it too lol on top of that you are also very limitated in your persuits as human lmao".

Man really cool stuff, absolutely love your channel, it actually made me delve more into international cinematography. Up till this point I only screwed around with blockbuster movies which although have their respective charms sometimes they lack in substance and meaning cause of the hype, anyway really appreciate your vids!
