I wish they actually commented on the music more, though, like the actual instrumentation; the lyrics and themes are wonderful but that isn't the whole point to music, and definitely not the whole point of metal.

I'm a little late to this, but anyway...fun fact about this song. The main reason this song resonates so well is because Phil wrote this song on actual events. After Cowboys from Hell came out, Phil and the guys came back home, Phil heard about a friend in the circle was talking crap behind his back. Thus, Walk was written.

The song Walk is actually rather fitting to the subject of free speech and people not telling you what you should or should not say because as it says in the song it is all about Respect. No one is going to agree completely with the opinions of others but people should respect other opinions even if they might not agree with them. If not they can - Walk!!

I have Dimebag Darrell's portrait tattooed on my forearm. He was the man that made me want to become a guitar player. I came home from middle school at the age of 13, opened the door, and my Dad said.... " you like Pantera right? ". I said " Yeah " with a smile on my face. He said... " Cool. I like White Zombie, they're coming to town together, so I got us tickets ". July 15th 1995. Still have the ticket stub. Best father-son moment of my life, best concert of my life. RIP Pop's! RIP Dime!

VinAnd Sori I purposely forgot to leave out the part that I threw up in the parking lot waiting in line because I was so nervous to see Pantera. Well apparently I've spilt the beans now. Everyone in line was asking my father if I was okay. And he said yes... He's just really nervous because he loves Pantera. My vomiting got carried throughout the line of other people telling others about it and the line erupt in a Pantera chant. That's when I officially became a Metalhead. I liked metal, but found my family

You don't completely experience "Walk" without letting Dimebag's agonizing guitars wail and fade into the background. Pantera's talent for ambience is underrated.
"Walk" is on "Vulgar Display of Power" - it was in fact their 6th record, but only 3rd with Phil Anselmo and actually the 1st that is groove metal full time and the one that made them really famous. Before Anselmo they where more of a glam metal band and were not widely known at all. So no, they weren't actually "rock stars" when they were recording this album - they exploded after its realise.
Honestly, you're open mindedness is the thing I co time to come back for. It's so refreshing to have open discussions about art (music) of all types.

I must say I really enjoy how you guys play off each other. It creates a fun environment to watch. Back leading up to the 2016 election, a neighboring church’s pastor let me know that we had lost people from our church to his. We all live in a small town and the camaraderie between the ministers is awesome here. He simply wanted give me heads up. My crime? On a different note: you have been hunting in the very fertile meadows and groves of thrashy and deathy and blacky metal for the most part. And while they are truly bountiful, may I suggest a little detour to the wide mountain ranges of more epic metal?
I suggest starting here: *Atlantean Kodex* - *Sol Invictus (With Faith and Fire)* . Apart from being a badass epic metal song, those guys' lyrics are filled to the brim with religious/mythological/esoteric/cultural references, so you might find those to your liking.

As a new viewer/listener I am extremely glad I stumbled upon you guys. I guess you could say I’m a believer but a non practicing Christian. I am also a huge HUGE fan of Pantera and have been for many years. I am a guitar player and Dimebag Darrell is one of my biggest inspirations. If you are not aware, Dime was tragically murdered on stage by a crazed fan in 2004. So seeing a first time Pantera listener enjoying their music got me all choked up. Glad to be a new subscriber. tim rancid I never get why people suggest that as one of the first pantera experiences. Don't get me wrong, it's probably one of the most iconic live performances of all time, and Dimebag absolutely blew it out of the water, but Phil's vocals there are just so... so awful...
I am constantly and consistently floored by your outlook and attitude. In this world of instant gratification, "I'm right, you're wrong", and "only my opinion matter", it is so. damn. REFRESHING. to see two people reject that notion and actively invite discussion and have the openness to, if not full change, at least entertain the perspective and outlook of conflicting worldviews. That is a big reason why I have completely fallen in love with you two and your channel. I can't even properly express how much I'm looking forward to your podcasts and the discussions that will happen because of them. I've already said it but thank you. Thank you so much for being who you are and inviting all of us to spend time in your world and presence. So much love and respect for you two (and my full respect is something that is not easily earned from my these days).
This reaction was a total treat. It's a metal classic. Sori, you were an incredible joy to watch on this one. I loved the joy you expressed. And Vin it was so much fun watching you waiting for her reaction. It was just an absolutely fun and joy filled video. This song has always represented the way I feel about most people these days. If you have something you feel you need to say to me, say it to my face. Don't walk around spreading shit. Grow some balls, pull me aside and talk to me. More often than not, it ends with both sides coming to a point of mutual respect and growing as people. That's not something that can happen if you shy away from conflict. Don't respect me? I'm not going to respect you. End of story.

I just had you two come up as an option in my feed and chose to watch because of the song Pantera did so well. I loved that song when it came out a "half million" years ago. I'm a Libertarian born and raised in a poor burb of Detroit,now a Grandma in Columbus OH. I could relate to not being able to please everyone! "So,walk on home now". If I let everyone change me,I'd have no personality ! Ha ha ha ...you cannot allow others to change you-politically or religiously,I could never agree 100% with anyone's religion,political leanings or any other dogmatic crap.I subscribed to you because of your reactions! I just love you two. Christians like you are the ones I respect.. and I truly wish more were like you. Not just your fellow Christians, but among all walks of life. Like my ancestors I don't judge by the color of your skin, or your religion.. or political views (to some degree). I judge you as a person. How you act and how you treat others. Are you kind? Loyal? I've seen enough great videos from the beautiful you, that I subbed to yuor channel. Love this song. It takes a musical genius to create a simply riff in structure and still make it sound phenomenal. The lyrics are some of my favorite features. I love the discussions you have after each song (even though they tend to be a bit too long). I also love how open minded you guys are. I'm a big time atheist and although I may strongly disagree with you on your faith and all, I still definitely respect you. I think Vin is such a cool person an so is Sori (while incredibly attractive). So yeah, this swedish person is now moved in to your village.

@Yeti To me we only have one life, so therefore it makes sense to make the best of it. Christians and muslims doesn't believe in zeus, helios, odin, or any of the celtic gods for example. There have been many religions in human history and countless number of gods. So why would THIS particular god be the right one. =P
Yeah I agree with that statement about "needing" God for life to have purpose. What about creating goodness around you for goodness sake. What about providing the same life or better for your children. What about raising your children to have a moral compass with or without the need for a celestial warden and instil in them the courage to make the world a better place than they find it. Isn't that an even more compelling meaning of life ?
I despair at those who assert that without God and the threat of damnation to Hell, they would rape and kill everybody. What does that say about the morals of that person ? What does that say about a person who fails his God and does evil, but only has to repent and will enjoy eternal life and happiness.
That's one of the reasons, I've become atheist... or maybe 99% atheist / 1% agnostic lol.
Well I don’t think that most people will become rapists or whatever I do think most modern atheists need to read the classics from russel and Voltaire. What I stated wasn’t what Christians were saying but leading atheists who were thinking through the ramifications of their worldview. I'm sorry if I insinuated that YOU would do that. Believe me I think your children are gonna grow up fine. It's more of a critique of the theist view of any religion that questions how an atheist can possibly be moral. Unfortunately, I have read countless instances and spoke to a few people face to face who terrify me when they say that without their belief in God, what would there be to stop them from killing everybody ! Believe me, when I actually READ the Bible is when I questioned how a believer possibly COULD be moral. For every beautiful, inspiring piece of the Bible, there's a ton of what we would call horrendous atrocities in it. I'm NOT trying to insult you, or destroy your faith, I'm just trying to explain MY thought process / journey. As for the invite to your podcast... tbh... I don't know how. Pretty lame for a guy who espouses the value of science and reason lol.
