    Pantera flew the flag for metal in the 90s. They were one of my favourites when I was in my late teens, along with Metallica and Megadeth.

      @excuse.me.sir. 5 ปีที่แล้ว +12

      sepultura was right there with them. i'd put beneath the remains,arise and chaos a.d. against any pantera album. not saying that they are better, but just as good albums.

    • @nolasludge
      @nolasludge 5 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      Those are all great albums, but I don't know if Sepultura flew the flag of metal like Pantera did. Right around Chaos AD, they were trying to convince people that they were a hardcore band. Pantera were always straight up saying "we're fucking metal." They championed metal when a lot of bands were trying to distance themselves from it.

    • @dinovelt2155
      @dinovelt2155 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thats because you may not listened more european metal. Sepultura fell from grace since chaos ad. even with arise. And....from Brasil are more bands, agressive band like sepultura...maybe more agressive. But, back to USA. Yes maybe Pantera did a lot. But there we go again, there was Death, Morbid Angel, and others.

      @@dinovelt2155 not sure I understand u." Fell from Grace with chaos ad? Even with arise". What does that mean? Lol. If you're saying they were declining with chaos ad, i.d disagree. Roots is when they fell off, even tho i like the album. Choas ad was the album they went from speed/thrash to more of a tribal heavy metal. It was definitely slower, but heavy as fuck. I love it. A lot of people would argue it's their favorite album. I love it myself, but can't really call it my favorite. But it's got some big league songs on it. Heavy as fuck. I actually prefer their live versions of their songs because they play them twice as fast.

    • @excuse.me.sir.
      @excuse.me.sir. 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@dinovelt2155 they fell off even more because Max and Igor left. They WERE sepultura. I know Andreas kisser wrote alot of songs ,but Max was a special singer man. His voice and presence were second to none. And Igor's drumming is fucking underrated is sickening. His live drumming is amazing. Especially back in the early 90s. I.d put him up against any other metal drummer back then

    Last night I had a guy try telling me that Phil can't sing, and he just sounds like he is trying to copy other vocalists. Then he named singers that came after Phil and Pantera. I had to educate him on how Phil's style was attempted to be copied by the vocalists of those bands. Phil changed the game with his style of vocals, and he actually hits notes, even when he is screaming. When he is screaming, you can still understand the lyrics for the most part.

    • @GoldTop57
      @GoldTop57 5 ปีที่แล้ว +13

      It was easy to be angry in the 90s though - it's easy to be pissed off when a once great form of music starts getting taken over by guys like Kurt Cobain who can barely play their guitars and then the kids that aren't listening to him are listening to "musicians" who don't even actually play musical instruments at all; they just talk over an electronic drum beat and a sampled (stolen) part of someone else's song

    Pantera is a generational band. One that flew the flag for a genre for a decade. They saved metal when grunge was the big thing. CFH was in1990 and Vulgar was 1992.
    Metallica had the Black album around vulgar. Many metalheads thought Metallica was selling out because they were suddenly radio friendly and popular. Pantera was selling out arena shows and had their 3rd album release (Far beyond Driven) at #1 on billboard with virtually zero radio support.
    You only get a band like Pantera every 30 years or so.

    Welcome to the dark side Vin. Pantera truly is the greatest band ever. Throw a dart and you'll never hit a bad song. Pantera and then the Beatles if that gives you an idea of my range in music.

    • @adamgilmore7081
      @adamgilmore7081 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You should react to one Pantera song a day aside from whatever others you react to. Maybe just a quick 10 minutes, if. Most Pantera songs are 4-5 minutes so it gives you time for the vid and your opinion. I know you do a show but I really think you are cheating yourself by not being familiar with the greatness that is Pantera's full catalog. Congrats on the baby on the way. I've got two of my own. Don't y'all already have a kid or two? I'm slowly staying for more than just the videos. Y'all do a good job sucking me in longer and longer. Might be more so on songs and bands I really like but gotta start somewhere. Peace y'all.

      I'd put Pantera in the same vein as the Beatles as well, but in a different way. The Beatles wrote lots of fantastic tunes but also some "meh" ones, Pantera are no different.

    • @adamgilmore7081
      @adamgilmore7081 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Andrew Law I disagree on that one. Yes the Beatles did put out a lot of music that was not that great, but their great music was just awesome. Pantera doesn't have a song I don't love.

    You have no idea how it feels to stand in front of the mighty Pantera back in 95' when they were in Vancouver Canada. The raw, the power, the Angst, the anger, the crowd, the sweat among the crowd, the vibe was very powerful and very demonic. it was incredible. They played This Love... only to see a sea of people head banging on the main ref... wow! I remember having the tape in my walkman on the city bus and playing the song over and over again tell my stop arrived. You have no idea what it means to be a Pantera fan for the past 20-some plus years it's been incredible. Keep rocking the Pantera guys keep that name alive and in vain. Cheers! Much love from Vancouver!

    i feel how you feel man, and im in a band, i wish things were how they use to be with live shows, & the music business. no one cares or bothers to support bands anymore, or even worse, no bands strive to be original..like pantera. Hopefully we can change that.
