- Welcome to the Yu-Gi-Oh Character Roulette! Each week @MBTYuGiOh and I will spin a wheel to build a deck from packs featuring cards used by anime characters throughout Yu-Gi-Oh's history, and then we’ll craft 1 card of each rarity from our pack to round out our decks. After a character’s pack wins the match it’s removed from the wheel, while the losing pack is given a second chance at victory! Tune in every weekend for new episodes of Character Roulette!

Every time the Valkyrie pack is spinned, its player will come up with a completely new way to pronounce at least one german number no matter how much they try to avoid saying the card names out loud
Goes hand in hand with Yugituber's thinking you pronounce the 'u' in Tsukuyomi like an e.

Wouldn't know about Twitter, since the man deletes his tweets so often and so fast I never get to read them. 90% of the time if I get a notification about a Dzeef tweet it's deleted when I click on it lol

Probably too late for this season, but if you do another run (and I hope you do) it could potentially be fun to give packs an extra craft per time it's lost (so for example the Valk pack would now get it's 1 of each rarity plus 2 free crafts if it was rolled again) give's the bad packs a bit of a potential catch up mechanic while saving us from what might be an unplayable vs unplayable final episode

ngl kinda fucked up that the only remotely close games of this series involved Valkyries
and we might've just won the match outright if we had been able to catch on to certain nuances of the game state in Game 3 a little better

Joseph's pulls should open a joint bank account with doug's pulls. That would solve all of it's issues
I think character roulette needs more wheels(because yu-gi-oh players love gambling) and a series wheel should be added with GX, 5Ds, Zexal,Arc V and Vrains wheels. You start with spinning for a series and after the Dz and MB can spin for one character on that series. Would make our gambling fueled minds interested when you land on a character that has 4 different packs you can go into(imagine if they had to win with all 4 of those packs before the character is removed). I'm not saying it's a good idea just an idea because I know Jaden would never come off the wheel because some of those packs are so bad and there are so many hero packs.
Character roulette is fun, but honestly I wouldn't complain seeing a full reset for master roulette. I think that was the better series
I love that every episode is just going to be a new deck beating Valkyries
Man, Valks could really use a Link-1 to unify the Goddess Continuous cards with the Valkyrie monsters by using either as material and adding 1 of either from deck or GY on a SOFT once per turn(because it's more funny that way).
LOL, the Goddess cards are just really good, though. The only thing is that they're a hard draw, but if you draw any one of them you at least get to Verdict which is really great protection!!!
But give Valkyries a link 1 anyways, they deserve it... we deserve it...

MBT literally does the same voice for every character (some exceptions like the German guy). Everyone sounds like young yugi to him

even the cards in it he doesn't use generally fit his fairy tale/storybook deck theme, so purists can't complain like in the case of lab with bakura (which admittedly doesn't fit the whole evil spirits/possession thing bakura has going on with his card's theming)

Weren’t the Valkyrie’s whole gimmick in the anime that they were cheating the whole time? My memory of that season is pretty foggy but I feel like they weren’t very honest at all
The valkyrie player didnt cheat but he hacked his brother's cards so technically his brother (the castle of stromberg player) was the one who was cheating in his duel
Could change Zigfrien with Leon his younger brother in the same season who used fairy tale, if you really want to change.
Pronouncing "dritte" as "dright" is definitely one of the moves of all time. Honestly, it would be an improvement. I have no idea what "dright" is supposed to be, but it sounds awesome. Well...We all know that reading isn''t Dzeeff's strong suit, right?

Since both Doug and MBT have pulled Valkyries I think the best way to help them out is that next time they spin on Valkyrie they still get 20 pulls plus they keep all their valkyrie pulls from the last time they landed on it

I found it funny that you removed weevil underwood due to the fact that his pack was barely any weevil cards and mostly inzectors when weevil canonically used inzectors in duel links
I am surprise Joseph didn't use the Sea Stealth Attack and Sea Stealth 2 in the best way. You can bring one monster back like the Jellyfish and the banish it and when you banish it the card will ignore the second effect of the Sea Stealth 2 which destroys the monster it special summoned. You can use both effects in the battle phase. Also i think you can use he jellyfish in the battle phase it just can't negate traps.
Never forget that a Ride Mischief combo is not an OTK because it literally skips to a second turn
So are you going to keep adding anime characters to the pack? Cause this could be a longer running series if you add stuff like Jaden and Aster for the E-Hero and Destiny Hero packs (and also the evil hero pack, just make them a special ruling to open additional packs since some of them are really bad), Jesse Anderson for the Crystal Beasts, Vellian Crowler for the Ancient Gears, Zane for Cydra. There's plenty of fun potential in this.
I know this might have been a change for earlier in this event but i think when a pack loses, it should accumulate an additional pack to open in future battles with it
i could be wrong but i believe you can use jellyfish in the damage step because part of the effect modifies stats

Golly! The amount of out of pack cards makes me think Konami has a hand in what you’re spending your gems on. The probability gets lower the more cards that are in the loot pool.
As much as I dislike the play style, I do appreciate the flavor of the water deck being full of floodgates
Idea for the series that comes after this one: its all anime battles. Like a wheel of 20 famous anime battles. Then whoever wins the last battle gets to decide which character they play as. So lets say Doug wins and they spin Yugi vs Marik, Doug gets to pick if he wants to play as Yugi or Marik. I just feel like spinning two random characters leads to harder/worse matchups, whereas if Doug picks good anime battles then it at least has some relevance and (some) equivalency in the matchup.
I think that every time you repeat the deck instead of starting from scratch you should continue using the same one but instead of opening 20 packs and the creations there should be 10 packs and only one UR,SR,R,N card creation. In this way we would see bad decks compete against better ones and it would give situations where MBT would beat you with the first time of a deck where you have already lost once or twice. Also in this way you avoid having to give specific cards to an archetype.

Yeaahh even with some okay pulls, my boy Mako came out on top, shows how good this deck can be, now imagine this deck with some actual good cards? good freaking luck, reason why i main this deck, Umi control is a nasty floodgate when played right, i hope we get some more Mako support in the future now that we are getting Reginald, aka Shark support. Year of water is going to pop off soon.
We were very close to greatness. I still think the Water pack was the better of the two here (3 torrentials and all that crazy stuff is hard to beat) but the Valkyries had a chance.
For this format I feel like you should be allowed to use cards you pulled from previous weeks only if it fits the character.
Change German guy with paradox and just say he invaded the timeline and killed him.
Malefics are in the Earthbound Immortals pack, so that'll be 5Ds, but I don't know who's name will be on it
@@eugenideddis but it is Canon that he travels across the first 3 series, stealing people's monsters. So he technically counts as being all 3 at the same time, making him a paradox.

I still feel like Loge's Flame > Sigurd > Erda is still a better thing to do in valkyrie rather than relying on the small valks + ride to otk. It's still bad but the ride otk i feel like only works if your opponent is going celtic guardian pass
honestly ride is such a bad card that just looks good. it's kinda like chaos max or magical mallet in theoretically it's good if it works but it will never work if your opponent is a person lol
It is such a shame that the mako deck got a big upgrade and it just became a floodgate deck.
Doug, you did have a chance because the trias doesn't target you could've forced the whale and ssa it's possible he just summons it back in battle phase and you're probably still out Idk valks just don't seem competent enough
I get the idea of a pack only being removed after it wins but in practice i dont wanna watch the same bad pack more then 3 times

he had a second SSA set that can place the destroyed Sea Stealth II back on the field when destroyed because it's treated as Umi in the GY
Next season all the characters of Yu-Gi-Oh spin the play but use competitive equivalent decks
I still feel like the loser should have to keep their pack, but also keep all the cards they opened from that pack
Because Valkyrie is *going* to lose against basically anything, but it would probably be a lot more playable from just the weekly crafts alone if it could be built up over the course of the series

Tbh I think rolling a wheel to decide what you can craft, like if you roll high end, you get 1 ur 2 sr and 1 rare craft or if you get filler, you get 4 commons or rares
Doug pulling a random Angwitch while I've been throwing gems at the memento selection pack since it came out made me very sad
I reckon when you move onto GX you should make a rule where you can open an extra Common, Rare Super Rare and Ultra Rare for every time the pack has lost
I think the more you bend the rules in this series the better it will become.
Am I missing something or shouldn't Doug have popped Sea Stealth 2 instead of Sea Stealth 1? Sea Stealth 2 is the one that's giving his monsters protection after all, and it's the only Umi on the field. If it isn't on the field, then it becomes easier to take out the Whale and anything that requires Umi to do stuff gets immediately worse including the Sea Stealth Attack.
Either you're missing something or Doug was missing something. Sea stealth attack can protect face up back row from destruction with it's effect.
I don't know exactly what the card with the pop effect does. If it targets and destroys then Doug couldn't have popped the umi. If it chooses the card to pop on resolution then he could deal with Umi. If it banishes then he could as well.
Doug definitely wanted to pop the Umi but he believed that he couldn't. I also believed that he couldn't. Without knowing the exact wording of his card I don't know who's right.
@@melissagrenier2200 Going back to the video, he was using the effect of Trias Hierarchia. To protect the backrow, he would have needed to banish a water monster he controlled, of which he only controlled one. If Doug targeted the Sea Stealth 2, then I think MBT might have done so to protect it, and then if Doug had tried to summon a bunch in order to take advantage of the open field for an OTK, then I think MBT would have used TT.
I had missed that Sea Stealth Attack could protect backrow. That was a good catch, thanks for that. It seems no matter what Doug was screwed. He was so close though it's frustrating.
@@NovusIgnis As a umi control player when you get sea stealth 2 along with an umi card, you're done, you're only chance now is to have something to banish it with, which is why i hate Fenrir with a passion, other than that, if he had just had sea stealth 2 only, the card itself falls flat and can be destroyed, another downside is that its slow as well and is heavily dependent on a "umi" card being on the field, if you can negate the activation of an umi card, then sea stealth 2 falls flat as well, which is why i also hate baron, thank god he isnt allowed in the TCG but still hate him in Master duel. Also if you have the 2 card combo setup but no monster to banish, both sea stealth 1 and 2 fall flat as you can pop them after that so in hindsight, there are plenty of ways to get around it, but number one thing is you dont want to allow the player to get both off or you will really have a hard time with it after and can cost you the match

I think a character needs to be put on cooldown after it loses unless there is no choice lol three weeks of valkyrie is too much
The worst deck from each subsequent wheel should all be put together into a final character wheel at the end so that all of the ass decks that couldn’t win a game get to face off

I'm sick of seeing Valkyrie and I have a solution. What if both decks were removed from the wheel when you play, but then the losing decks are put on a new wheel? That way we don't just see the same terrible pack lose to every other pack week after week.

Hopefully by the end of this they end up good at playing Valks lol. Its a bad deck but its not so bad it can't win a match. Just gotta know what they do and read the opponents cards.

I shake my head every time anyone says Citadel Whale is good. It's made completely irrelevant by all the new Mako support. Can revive itself from grave? Sure, after losing 2 monsters. Try Sea Stealth II and either Mega Whale for floating or Doom Kraken in hand. Searches Sea Stealth Attack on summon? That's cute, the Kairyu Shin retrain searches almost any of the archetype's backrow, and it's once per turn. Can negate a targeting effect? Jellyfish negates a monster or spell effect, while Sea Stealth II protects your monsters from non-WATER monsters' targeting effects.
The funny thing is a legendary ocean isn't even in that pack.

So Doug should have popped Sea Stealth II because it can only summon monsters that mention "Umi" (Citadel Whale is NOT one of these), even if Joseph banished it for Sea Stealth Attack to protect it Doug could then go mischief of the time goddess for the double Battle Phase (fun fact the Citadel Whale would stay banished because you don't go to the End Phase, also Rise wouldn't wipe your board because of how the effect is worded.)
I know the deck is complete dogshit and no rational human beings would have thought of this but technically game 3 was very winnable with Valkyries if Doug had knowledge about how Mischief cheats Ride's downside and how Sea Stealth II worked.
