    Thanks Andrew, keep it up! A potential video you could do in the future is indoor plant care tips for UK homes, especially with winter coming up.

      Hi Oliver, thanks for the feedback, I really appreciate the encouragement. That's a great idea for a video. I'll definitely get this one made over the next few weeks. :)

    Just got mine. Have a 3x3 tent set up since my place is too cold and drafty for my Thai constellation monsteras, although my house humidity says 60% . The tent bottom wasn't zipped all the way and the door was open so I could look at the plants, but I noticed the humidity was at 40%. Zipped up the bottom and door halfway and humidity stabilized at 50%. I use a de-humidifier to prevent black mould, but it's on the opposite side of my plant tent so not sure why the tent is lower. Maybe the heat from the LEDs? I'm going to monitor it and set up a fog machine on a humidistat if it needs it. Maybe drape a piece of greenhouse plastic over the doorway so it contains humidity and I can still watch them whenever I want. I find it odd though because I live in a temperate rain-forest so I usually have high humidity problems unless we have a deep freeze.

    I just got my Stromanthe Triostar and have been watching video after video to learn how to properly care for it. Yours is by far the best one I have found!! Thank you so much!! Your video on the Jungle velvet was also awesome. Helped me alot when I got my Calathea a few months back! It's still looking great thanks to your detailed care video.

    My Stromanthe has not been growing, the leaves are turning brown and it seems to be dying. Any suggestions?

    Great vid with lots of useful knowledge. I've noticed little black flies around my Triostar. Thought it could have been caused by over or irregular watering. Thought of changing the soil as worried it might be packed with eggs of some insects. Is it a good idea or what else could be done?!

    What do you think of using neem oil on the leaves to clean and preventative treatment from pests? I really want this plant in my little collection, so really doing some research before taking the leap. 😂

    I did a 50/50 mix of peat moss and commercial houseplant soil mix. But mines is getting brown and there's no new growth. I am in the northern US so it's winter. The plant outgrew it's pot and the roots were coming out the bottom so I repotted recently but it was browning before. I started running a humidifier and i have it on a humidity tray.

    Thanks for a great video. I do have a question....mine seems to be doing quite well EXCEPT there is only one section of the plant that the leaves are curled. They’re not new, they’re not browning...if I spread them the look healthy and normal except for the fact that this one section of about 10 leaves are curled closed. Any ideas?

    • @V_4_Versace
      @V_4_Versace 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I’d probably put those curled ones facing the sun (not in direct sun, still indirect) but the curled ones probably aren’t getting enough sunlight and think it’s night all the time

    We put ours in a window without even thinking and it started to yellow. We’ve moved it to where it’s getting medium light. Will the yellowing revert back to white or is it damaged?

      I actually cut the dried up leaves of my one and it doesn't seem to have a negative impact on the overall growth of the plant. Have mine for 6 years and it doesn't like direct sun so we keep it by a east facing window where it gets sun for the first few hours of the morning and it loves it there. Best of luck with yours.

      Hi Ari
      Sorry to hear that. Make sure the lighting is sufficient, that the care needs are being met, and check that your plant is not root bound. If you haven't fertilized your plant recently, this may also help a lot, but be careful not to add too much.
      Good luck with your plant
      Andrew :)

    • @smartgardenguide2550
      @smartgardenguide2550  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Do you mean the leaves are drying out? High humidity and consistently moist soil will help hugely. :

      OK, then definitely make sure your plant is placed out of direct sunlight, and that the soil is kept consistently moist. Humidity should be kept at at least 50% also. That helps most issues. :)
