I tell you what I'm a beginner at this and just learned two cool things. #1 seeing your crosscut sled I figured out how I can make one. #2 the way you use your sliding miter saw. Your video taught me a lot but two really cool things...thanks.

Looks great. I love how your artistic eye meets basic cabinet making to produce something outstanding. Both carpenters and artists have a proclivity to overcomplicate things but you have the gift of seeing design with such clarity that the piece is beautiful and interesting in itself without the need for ornamentation or ostentation.

Great video Mr. Peters! Just last Sunday I went with my wife to Ikea to look at some book cases for our living room and although they are not very expensive i much rather build my own, I just wish i knew how. But I think I will give a shot and will definitely start by building a bookcase for my daughter as well. Really enjoy how you work in the molding with the design, it truly makes the project stand out. By the way, why not drill the holes for the shelves prior to putting it together? Thanks!

    • @JonPetersArtHome

This and the fancy antique mirror frame projects are definitely my favorite that you've done. I just have one question; I got a Kreg jig for Christmas and will be using it to build a bookcase that is a close "riff" on this one. I know Kreg makes wooden plugs to fill in the pocket holes, I didn't see you do that. Do you fill pocket holes? If not, are you not concerned with seeing the rather large oblong holes up the inside of the sides?
    Please keep the videos coming!

    • @JonPetersArtHome

Thanks Michael, you really don't see them once things are in the cabinet, but yes you could fill them with the kreg plugs
