For those who kept comparing this to Baz Luhrmann's Elvis. This movie explores the relationship between Elvis and Priscilla from Priscilla's POV whereas Baz's Elvis was just Elvis' personal life and career. That movie did little to fleshed out Elvis and Priscilla's relationship so therefore we have this film from Sofia Coppola

This movie pushes the voice of ONE GOLD-DIGGING FEMALE who lost her right to use the Presley name in the 1970s. A woman who stole tens of millions from her own daughter and grandchildren to benefit herself and her husband of 22 years, post-Elvis divorce. She is a horrible mother who even wrote that she had wanted to abort her own daughter. Lisa Marie finds this outy in the book. Disgraceful human being with zero credibility.

This is exactly how I pictured Sofia's Priscilla film to look like. The anticipation for this version is real because I've become such a fan of her films recently. For those who haven't seen the 1988 tv series it's on TH-cam. It had Susan Walters starring. It's really good and well made

It is not like the world and priscilla herself weren't made aware she was groomed. We all know this and I hope they are able to show that truthfully and without damaging Elvis's image. There are people who still hate him regardless for both all the wrong and understandable reasons. He may have groomed her and molded her a version of himself, BUT that doesn't mean he should be condemned for life. I love the look of the film. The costume design, hair, makeup, and sets look amazing.
This movie is based on a book that I not only regretted reading but that I closed with the unpleasant feeling that this woman does not love Elvis. Her attitude after the death of Elvis' daughter unfortunately confirmed this feeling. There are so many books written by people who do really love Elvis... why wasting time and money with Elvis' ex wife's "book" ? This movie will appeal only to those who don't love Elvis - sofia coppola included. I'm sorry for them because they do not know what they are passing by.
I agree 100%. I found her to be a conniving cheater. If I only knew then what she would do with this film..... and what she did to her daughter and grandson. F PRISCILLA, she failed as a mother and grandmother.

This women has no limits and love only for Elvis money and legacy. Sadly LisaMarie is no longer here to see what her mother is doing for money

If Priscilla truly loves Elvis as much as she always claims and she’s dedicated to protecting his legacy, why do a movie about their relationship that portrays Elvis as narcissistic, controlling, egotistical and manipulative, not to mention the inevitable elephant in the room - pedophile. That doesn’t sound like protecting someone you love to me. Priscilla knows their age gap comes under much greater scrutiny now than it did in the 60s. She’s willing to make Elvis look terrible if it means making money off her story bc the age gap vilifies him w/o destroying her perfect, saintly image. She represents gold digging at it’s finest.

PRISCILLA LIE NUMBER 1. Priscilla met Elvis after she had intercourse with Elvis' friend, Currie Grant. At that moment she was not a virgin anymore.
When Elvis was back in the States Priscilla had several boyfriends and slept with some of them. Priscilla was very flirtatious. It is rumored that she was sexually abused by her violent alcoholic stepfather Paul Beaulieu. Priscilla let Elvis believe that she was an innocent virgin but in reality, she was a liar and a manipulator, who was addicted to attention because she always was her mother's little princess.
PRISCILLA LIE NUMBER 2. Priscilla's parents encouraged her relationship with Elvis because they were starstruck and wanted status and money. When Elvis was back in the States they discouraged Priscilla from dating with boys in Germany. Her mother, Ann Iversen, pushed Priscilla to write love letters to Elvis, who occasionally called Priscilla and was back with girlfriend Anita Wood. It was Priscilla, ordered by Ann, who begged Elvis to invite her to the V.S. and it were her parents who forced Priscilla to move to Graceland although she wanted to stay in Germany with her then boyfriend.
PRISCILLA LIE NUMBER 3. She was not in love with Elvis Presley but with her boyfriend Jamie. In Graceland Priscilla's only goal was getting married to Elvis and then divorce him and take him out like a goose for her own financial benefit and that of her parents. It was no coincidence that Priscilla was sent to the V.S. months before her 18th birthday, months before her graduation from high school and months before the Beaulieu-family returned to the States. By sending their daughter away to live with Elvis before her 18th birthday the Beaulieu's had a means to blackmail Elvis. Paul Beaulieu seems to have had CIA connections too.
PRISCILLA LIE NUMBER 4. Elvis was constantly asked by the Beaulieu-family when he was going to marry Priscilla as he had promised when Priscilla came to Graceland. Elvis was eventually blackmailed into marrying Priscilla by Paul Beaulieu and Tom Parker.
PRISCILLA LIE NUMBER 5. As soon as Priscilla and Elvis were married their relationship deteriorated because Priscilla stopped being the demure innocent woman she played before the wedding and became demanding and critical of everything Elvis did. Soon after Lisa Marie was born Priscilla started cheating on Elvis, first with a dance teacher and later with a karate instructer. Elvis realized that Priscilla didn't love him and probably never had. PRISCILLA LIE NUMBER 6. The divorce was again used to blackmail Elvis with the fact that Priscilla dated him while she was still a minor. That cost Elvis at least $2 million plus alimony.
PRISCILLA LIE NUMBER 7. After the divorce, Priscilla and Lisa Marie lived in a house that exposed not a single photo of Elvis Presley, the man, Priscilla claims, is the love of her life. Elvis certainly didn't believe her. In her book Elvis and Me, Priscilla seems to depict herself as the innocent victim of a bad man, Elvis Presley, but in reality, it is the other way around. It was Elvis Presley, who was manipulated and exploited by Priscilla and her parents. You don't publish negative books/films/interviews about the "love of your life".

When Elvis had died Priscilla was overheard telling her half-sister Michelle, giggling, that everybody thought she was crying behind her sunglasses but in reality, she was laughing. Priscilla thought she would inherit from Elvis but she did not. Elvis removed Priscilla from his will in February 1977 and left everything to HIS DAUGHTER Lisa Marie.

There is no way they dated from the ages of 14-17. They met initially at an army party when she was 14. There was a conversation about his mother passing. Elvis was in mourning. He comes back from his tour of duty a few months later. He was dating ANITA WOOD during this time in the Service. She just died today. They were in love with each other.
Priscilla and Elvis don't see each other again until ONE YEAR AFTER the age of consent. NONE OF THESE BOOKS.. not even Priscilla shows A SINGLE PHOTO or MEDIA that shows them together ON HIS PRIVATE TIME in Germany. The press hounded him there too. If you've watched films, made during the American New Wave (even after that era) you find this feature appearing (and being utilized) commonly... especially in films made with a par at the hindsight of 'Chinatown' and others. You can still find this in modern neo-noir films like Heat and Insomnia and Drive and Joker; Recall Waingro and Officer Echkart and Standard and Sophie's kinda characters... in these last stated films, you can hardly tell that they're not necessary characters in the plot and this raises questions about their very existences in the narrative! I think EVERYONE should read " Destined to die young" & DR Forrest Tennants (World renowned Neurologists, was present at all 4 of Elvis Autopsies, was the state hired Medical Expert for Dr Nichopoulos trial VS the Tennessee medical board & The State of Tennessee wrongful death trial. He had spinal blocks in 1975 in his spine which caused Cushings. He stopped breathing and was placed into the hospital, his face, and Abdomen were huge and would never fully go down. The press was calling him fat, but he was so sick. Only a handful of people knew what really was going on. Dr Forrest Tennant a world leading Neurologists was given all Elvis medical files and was at all 4 autopsies. He represented Elvis Dr Nick Nichopoulos at his trial in the State of Tennessee & against the Medical Board. He was the specialists in Howard Hughes Medical Trial too. He had written a book on this, numerous blogs, medical journal contributions, and even a podcast. He is still practicing medicine and talks openly about how this lead EXACTLY to Elvis death. People should probably be weary of this film. priscilla is not a good woman at all. This is quite a lot of writing.
The film is based on her book ,Elvis And Me, which she has admitted to lying and exaggerating in. She said she regretted writing the book even claiming she was ‘too harsh’. But still makes profit and sells the book and obviously having a film made about it.

She desperately wanted to live with him- even demanding so. Yes they met when she was 14 and it wasn’t right. Priscilla writes in her book that’s Elvis never touched her after she gave birth. she later took back this statement saying that he did touch her. In 1968, during his comeback special, he met one of his backup dancers (Susan Henning) he was sexual with her, knowing that she had a child.
In 1972 when they split up, elvis (allegedly) requested in the divorce settlement that she was not allowed to use they Presley name. She followed this, going back to her maiden name (beaulieu). She even had elvis help at opening a fashion boutique called Bis and Beau. When Elvis died, she went back to the Presley name, as it opened doors for her. It was agreed that she would get around $750,000 from Elvis. But when Elvis went broke, she knew, and asked for more money.
Elvis took responsibility for the failed marriage even admitting in concert that it was his fault. Elvis even sold his publishing rights to her.
During the divorce, priscilla moved in with Elvis karate instructor, Mike stone, who left his pregnant wife for Priscilla. Priscilla knew all of this which makes me laugh because the amount of times she would complain about Elvis cheating on her. She left this out of her book.
After elvis died, priscilla joined Scientology (a cult) and would send an amounting and upset Lisa Marie to Scientology camp. Lisa was 9. Priscilla also allegedly kept Lisa away from Elvis side of the family.
Priscilla kept using the Presley name whilst being in a relationship for 22 years with a man and even having a son with him.
Before any of you say ‘she wanted to keep the same name as her daughter’. Why would she take it back after elvis died? Why wouldn’t she use the same name as her son? It’s because it gives her fame.
She still plays the grieving widow act. She also had a boyfriend who admitted to having sexual thought about 12 year old lisa marie (I don’t think she knew though).
Lisa found out that Priscilla was stealing $1 million from Graceland. Obviously after lisa died earlier this year, she took her will into legal action because she wasn’t on it. (Who would put their 78 year old mother on their will thinking that their mother would die before them)
She got $7 million after the case ended and made her son navarone own 1/9 of Graceland. Navarone wished death upon Lisa Marie.
Priscilla then had the nerve to want to be buried next to Elvis. (I don’t get how she think she would be allowed, they were divorced when he died and his blood family would have to be moved in order to do this).

One thing I'm grateful for is opening Graceland to the world;
This is definitely a continuation of Marie Antoinette in my mind. The lead actress was soooo believable as Priscilla. Uncomfortable at times, but likely true to life and impactful to the audience.
I saw it last night, you can see many of the Marie Antoinette’s scenes in this movie. It’s pretty amazing. Sofia has this particular taste and it shows. I’ve always been a huge fan of her directing and soundtracks for every movie ❤

I read the book 'Elvis and Me' by Priscilla Presley. It was a shocking, depressing book, and it was very detailed. I'm looking forward to the movie's adaptation.
🙄A book that Priscilla admitted later contained inaccuracies and exaggerations of the truth. We have heard many contradicting stories about Elvis's relationships over the years, but unfortunately, we can never hear Elvis's POV. Just because something is in a book or movie does not make it all facts! Many people make judgments when they know very little about Elvis as a person.

Great Balls of Fire was based on Myra Gail Lewis s book too it will be interesting to see the perspective of Priscilla also since she was only 15 when she met Elvis Myra was only 13 with Jerry.

Priscilla met Elvis when she was 14 just a few months before Elvis went back to US and to his steady girlfriend :Anita, not Priscilla. I don't trust Priscilla and don't see what's interesting in her story telling pretending that she would have been a victim. I'm afraid that the victim was Elvis.

First, the verifiable facts. Young teens DO MEET rock stars they adore when they are young. She CHASED ELVIS. SHE found out that he would be there and SHOWED UP. CANT BLAME ELVIS FOR MEETING HER -- SHE INTRODUCED HERSELF!!!! There is NO PHOTO or VIDEO EVIDENCE or EYEWITNESS to ANYTHING OTHER THAN THEM TALKING while in Germany. Elvis was always accompanied by other adults.
2: Priscilla was IN GERMANY and Elvis was busy in the US making movies and dating for 99+% of her teen years.
3: There was NO SEX and NO MARRIAGE until she was of age.
4: Priscilla stated that she was a VIRGIN on the night of her wedding. That would place her at 21 years old. (Not 14 like others would have you believe).
5: Priscilla was 23 years old when she gave birth to Lisa Marie. So this was NOT outrageous like it is today with teens having babies at 14. ELVIS DID THIS RIGHT.
6: WHAT DID THEY DO IN GERMANY?: Priscilla said they basically just spoke about his mother passing and she would ask if they could have a future together and Elvis would just tell her no, you are too young.
7. When they finally mutually decided on a future together, Elvis eventually moved her onto the Graceland property but in separate quarters, in fact a separate home altogether. She was 17 and had to finish up high school at a local Memphis Christian school which she did. That's the deal that Elvis and Priscilla's parents agreed to.
THE AGE OF CONSENT WAS 16 in the 1960s in the United States. So she was LEGAL by ALL STANDARDS.
8. Elvis had no opportunity to screw around with the setup, he had staff all over the Presley grounds and all had opportunities to report wrongdoing and that never happened. And he was rarely even there because he spent the large majority of that time in HOLLYWOOD, 1,047 miles away from Graceland, making movies. So they didn't actually start dating until she was 18.
So with the ACTUAL timeline and LOGISTICS.... Priscilla is FULL OF SH---T.

This woman has no qualms about only telling the worst about Elvis but at the same time still using his name for money. Does she seem like a credible person to you? She tells so many lies and different versions that it just makes me laugh. Elvis wasn't perfect as no man is...but his talent and good heart are undeniable....Priscilla has neither of those for me.
