Dissolving the security apparatus is the right move. The old regime's tools of oppression are not required by the new government. They are demonstrating trust to the people. Hence, when we are able to attack, we must seem unable; when using our forces, we must appear inactive; when we are near, we must make the enemy believe we are far away; when far away, we must make him believe we are near.” “Engage people with what they expect; it is what they are able to discern and confirms their projections. It settles them into predictable patterns of response, occupying their minds while you wait for the extraordinary moment - that which they cannot anticipate.” “Thus we may know that there are five essentials for victory: 1 He will win who knows when to fight and when not to fight. 2 He will win who knows how to handle both superior and inferior forces. 3 He will win whose army is animated by the same spirit throughout all its ranks. 4 He will win who, prepared himself, waits to take the enemy unprepared. 5 He will win who has military capacity and is not interfered with by the sovereign.” “Opportunities multiply as they are seized.” “who wishes to fight must first count the cost” “Be extremely subtle even to the point of formlessness. Be extremely mysterious even to the point of soundlessness. Thereby you can be the director of the opponent's fate.”

looking at the past. It helps us to recognise mistakes and learn lessons from them. But in the current situation, looking back doesn't get us anywhere. What lies ahead is unprecedented. We are facing global challenges that have never existed in this form in human history - at least not in a time that we would consider cultural and civilised.
So from what I've seen... There was great efforts and thought put into the revolution. Overthrowing a whole government is not an easy feat. However, at no point in time, did anyone think of what happens after? Sloppy. Very sloppy. And I pray for the people of Syria. There are at the mercy of the highest bidder... Essentially.
Are you kidding? This whole transition is proof that people have been thinking about this for years. If Assad had fallen early in the civil war things would have been a whole lot more chaotic. The moderate and Islamist rebel factions are working together smoothly, there's focus on preserving existing institutions. Relatively little in the way of revenge killings. The national conference is also 100% the way to go. All in all this has all gone way better than anyone expected. If they manage to fold the SDF into the army and prevent an Alawite insurgency this will be held up as a textbook example of how to successfully end a civil war.
