The irony of regime troops being forced to reconcile with the rebels when back in 2018, it was the rebels who were forced to reconcile with the regime.
Didn't Assad force the former rebels to 'reconcile' back in circa late 2010's in the south after defeating them militarily thanks to Russia and the Hezbollah? Man, it's some sort of cathartic reversal that these 'reconciled' soldiers broke off in the south, had a major role in destroying the regime for good, and now are reconciling their old forces. Greatest comeback story of the century.
Syria will certainly be a strong and wealthy country! Keep united and be peaceful! Syrian people now bear responsibility for showing the whole world how democracy can win! If Syria keeps stable and peaceful, people in tyrannical countries around the world will see Syria as role model and rebel against their tyrannical regime sooner or later. Syria is bringing good to the whole world!
The person with face scar seems to be a liar. There were videos circulating of Assad armies torturing and killing prisoner. How could someone in Army be so ignorant of Crimes? Something fishy.
They should be investigated, and if evidence for war crimes, then they should be tried and punished. In my opinion, there can be no reconciliation without justice.
While I'm sure there will be tribunals im also sure "justice" can lead to mob mentality and reprisals against civilians. It's not like the Syrian opposition didn't commit war crimes.
The people saying to not surrender their weapons don't get it It's the syrians choice to put their weapons down, they have seen enough blood as soldiers and don't want anymore Let them go their own way
It's hard to think of a transition of power where the new forces have been so calm and magnanimous. The Russians were allowed to leave peacefully without so much as a shot been fired, these soldiers can hand in their weapons without fear of reprisals. If anything, they need to show more that they are collecting all the documents to bring the Assad commanders and top levels of government to justice. We've seen papers lying scattered around everywhere at the former prisons and ministries.
Nah a lot of the soldiers were forcefully joined into the military, that's why freeing syria was done in 11 days, the soldiers had no cause to fight for.
let begin by the fact that I am israeli, won't go into the politic of it all, but there is something that strike me. and that how bad of a channel bbc is. I hate when they say this damned phrase "couldn't be verified independently" since almost anything they do they really don't care about verifying it at all. but they choose to put this phrase exactly when it suits their agenda. of course the assad soldier won't be saying out loudly they fought those rebels on ideological basis, because they have literal armed former rebel 2 meter from there who control now their lives. those former rebels did a lot of bad thing, everyone do bad thing in war or before. but I can't anymore with that "independent" branding on BBC. they don't care about being independent they care about being neutral as possible so they get to film in place like that. but BBC is bias, and they don't have the decency to admit it and support your own side/country. tired of those channel who brand themselves "neutral-unbias" the biggest travesty of all.
You can't judge these guys, when a dictator saids every man has to serve in the military how can you distinguish between fathers, sons and uncles. Everyone had to do what they can to survive. The head of the prison and 20 jailers of the human slaughter house (Saydnaya) were arrested over the past few days. As we speak large scale raids are being carried across Syria.
Those bodies have been accumulating since the 1970s.
It’s probably gonna require a UN investigation team to go in and find the guilty parties.
People should not have faith in government but in themselves and working together to help each others
Thats what government is dufos.
That's a pretty ignorant comment.

One can argue that Assad fell because of his greed. If he had given them good salaries and organized the army better, he could still be in power.
No he fell because most families in Syria had someone being killed or disappeared by him

Where was Syria's wealth ? In it's oil . What did Trump say again " We got the oil " The plan worked. . . I'm making no excuses for Assad , just stating the obvious . How can a country whose economy is crippled by sanctions and whose resources are being stolen by occupiers pay wages . Apparently a Syrian General received $40 a month while the Jihadi fighters were being paid $thousands . . Who was paying their wages ? . . The HTS (Al Qaeda by any other name) invasion wasn't the Syrian peoples doing . It was that of outside powers who don't give a hoot for the Syrian people themselves .

I really want to believe that Al Shara has the best intentions for his country. I wish him every success with uniting Syria.
I hope the Syrian people have a chance of finally determining their own destiny and above all else they get the chance to live in peace.

It is said that forgiveness is to stop attempting to change the past; you can't. But you can forgive while working and changing hearts and minds without forgetting why you are where you are.
Looks like Syria will finally know peace!
1:15 thats the important part. They stopped paying their soldier's.
They didn't have Any Money to pay the wages to the Soilders ; Syria was under Strict US Sanctions for the last 10 yrs, and the Areas of Syria that has Oil and Gas where under American backed Kurdish Control, where The Imperial Powers where taking full advantage of Freebies just like in Northern Iraq Kurdish Controlled Areas where the Majority of the Iraqi Oil and Gas is Found.

The irony of regime troops being forced to reconcile with the rebels when back in 2018, it was the rebels who were forced to reconcile with the regime.
I mean those who involved in the worst crime probably wont even try to come and surrender themselves and had fled in advance before the fall.
May the New Year bring Peace to our world! 🌍☮️🌎
Forgive your enemies but never traitors.
Its a reminder to anyone nothing is permanent in life .
It is a good example of reconcilliation that will bring peace and tranqulity in Syria.
Hope to see a true, peaceful reconciliation of this nation and wishing them best of luck while new government is taking first steps.

The people saying to not surrender their weapons don't get it
It's the syrians choice to put their weapons down, they have seen enough blood as soldiers and don't want anymore
Let them go their own way
Hope the new regime can forgive the past and treat non-muslims with dignity.
God bless Syria
I’m so happy to Syrian people living in peace with unity.

These were the poeple who were commiting the autrosities.
not really, Most of them are Conscripts And they were just following orders
An example of someone who hasn't gone thru it. End the war or don't. But don't act like it isn't about revenge

let begin by the fact that I am israeli, won't go into the politic of it all, but there is something that strike me.
and that how bad of a channel bbc is.

I think it is a good sign things are proceeding smoothly and that the formers soldiers are being given amnesty. I hope the rebels can keep their word ons Syria being a tolerant country and prevent it from turning into an islamist hellhole like Afghanistan.

They completely ended the drugs production and actively trying to rehabilitate the addicts. The only ones making it a hell hole are the Western sanctions punishing an improvised nation because they don't like their current rulers. It’s wishful thinking at best, the SNA and other extreme ist elements are committing daily war crimes against minorities and holding jihadist style parades.
