FOR THOSE WHO ARE WONDERING WHAT'S ABOUT THESE SONGS: Shiren: Since I’d heard about the technology of turning human ashes into diamonds, I knew the lyrics of “CADAVER” would be about this. Then quite the opposite, I made a fantasy story of calling humans back to life from the diamonds for the lyrics of “REVADAC”. Fuki: Since the melodies are inverted, we talked and felt we definitely had to do the same in writing the lyrics. Is the first line in “REVADAC” sung backwards? Fuki: It is. A Swiss company invented the technology to turn the ashes to diamonds, so I chose German. The first line is “tnamaiD muz ehcsA red noV” - a backwards reading of a German phrase “Von der Asche zum Diamant”. It means “From the Ashes to Diamonds”
the last word of first song 時を戻して(toki wo modoshite) means "turn back time". and the first words 私はここへ戻るだろう(watashi wa koko e modoru darou) means "I will come back here".
This is seriously one of the most talented and unique bands I have ever heard. This girls voice is incredible. Can't wait to import a bunch of their albums to the states
This song is so intellectually sound, it has such a transcendent melody, harmonized riffs, and sick rhythm all accented by the Neo classical genius that the writers put into play, and musicianship into practice. The fact that the song is played in reverse, honestly escaped me for the first week or so that I was jamming this, when I figured that out... I honestly felt mind blown, as a guitarist myself, I was very impressed at the sheer visceral energy, all the way through the second half of the song where they break it down in reverse. This is a noteworthy track. The music community should definitely know about this. I'm not Japanese, but I can hear and feel the raw emotion in the vocals without needing to understand every word, her voice is immaculate. The artists in this band have sheer talent. I'm a metalhead, and this band goes way hard in its own unique way. After listening to several tracks, I can confidently say I'm a huge fan.
I knew about the reverse even before I'd heard the full tracks because of their announcement, and it still blew me away. Everything you pointed out is just amazing, and every time I listen to either track I'm still amazed. I think if some of the old gods of classical music were still alive today, they'd definitely be metalheads (Beethoven comes to mind) and this would be the kind of composition they would go for.
About 35 years ago i became a metal head and i was ridiculed for it.Metal would never become popular and would just die out within a few years. Now, after so many years, not only metal has become more popular then ever before, but it has spread out all over the planet. Sure, i understand people who say it is too loud or aggressive. But i think that no one can deny the high musical skills and talent many metal artists possess. This video proves that again.
Metal has been in Japan for just as long. It's similar to how they've been doing rap since the 80s. it's not that the genre became more popular, the world just got smaller coz we can now hear about bands from Japan, all the way to Brazil.
snakemasterthorno it depends on the metal tho. I absolutely hate despise american and really any other countries metal that isn’t Japanese metal. Because I absolutely fucking love Japanese metal. Bit to be fair tho I think all non Japanese music or really anything not Japanese related is trash and I hate.
The first time the trick was used was when Mozart was doing a piano battle back in the Classical ages (no joke!) and he took his contender's sheet music and turned it upside down. This is basically a metal version of that
Teleman did stuff like that too. The piece I remember was we put it on a table between two of us and both played it as we saw it, so one person was upside down to the other. I like that this band has done this though - it works well.
Japan is definitely the place to look for new stuff right now. I haven't listened to anything else for a year and a half. Every time I think I'm done I discover someone like Fuki and I'm back on the train. I don't mind a bit. The violin really adds something.

To Fuki and the gang .. thank you so much for your music and your hard work and I hope for nothing but best in the future for you guys
I picture the violinist as another band members little sister that they had to let practice with them, but then she totally killed it and they needed her in the band.
Это шедевральная композиция... До сих пор не верится, что можно сочинить и исполнить музыку как в прямом, так и в обратном направлении... Потрясающе!!!👏👏👏
I have followed Fuki ever since her lead vocals in Doll$boxx. I have been nothing short of amazed at the power and versatility of her voice. She has been one of my favorite vocalists for years. The band is immaculate and very talented. Guitars are epic, the drummer is a beast, and Jill is such a pleasure to watch and hear. Fuki and Jill are just sweethearts, and the guys are the type of folks I'd enjoy hanging out with.
Someone I showed this video mentioned this is a technique called "counterpoint", and Bach used compose with counterpoint. Pick my word with a grain of salt, I'm not a musical expert.

kinda just stumbled to this band after watching anime ending songs and damn, this was the kind of band that I've been looking for all my life.. bro.. I'm in lob alrdy..
Which anime was it? In my case, I discovered this band this morning after reading a blog from a Canadian broadcaster regarding Jill covering Eruption by Van Halen. That was insane to watch.
It always amazes me how UM manages to bring so many awesome concepts together. For me it comes back to how Fuki's amazing voice works for so many different styles. The band (and this song) has lyrical elements, power metal, symphonic metal, and neoclassical elements and they're all woven together. Even Cadaver and Revadac feel like VERY different songs but they're both performed so well.

Cool you posted this but put the link to my interview with them in the comment :)
Everyone's doting on the drummer ( _which is admittedly really awesome_ ), but I'm here cheering for the wicked violinist.
Hell yes! Excellent observation! She's so amazing, beautiful and bold.

I still can't get over the fact that they play speed metal on a violin. That must take talent.
At the beginning I thought this was a cool song, but the moment they started playing the whole song in reverse my mind was blown. A real masterpiece!
There was a live version on YT before being nuked. They can play it note for note backward. It's a trip.

其の感傷を 召還せよ
此の暴走を 想望せよ
其の後悔と 邂逅せよ
彼の星彩よ 再生せよ
Epic wordplay. :o

My head hurts just from thinking about how they compose this...

Someone I showed this video mentioned this is a technique called "counterpoint", and Bach used compose with counterpoint. Pick my word with a grain of salt, I'm not a musical expert.
Counterpoint in itself is just the existence of multiple musical ideas / melodies going on at the same time that can interweave with each other.

Neo Classical metal music and symphonic metal band from Japan. And Fuki fits to this high standard for this music.
