this is good to know. I like the g19, I got shmedium hands so the grip actually perfect size, but i like longer slides and barrels, both aesthetically and functionally.
I've been a firearm owner for about 25 years and I just got my first Glock today which happened to be the 47. Looking forward to getting it dirty. I'll get my first pistol red dot at a later date after I do some research.
I've been carrying a Glock 47 for a year or so now and I love it. Slapped a holosun hs407cx2 red dot on it and it works great. I usually run the 19x mags in it for 19+1 rounds of 9mm. Scooped up a spare slide with night sights for cheap. May try to trade it for a glock 45 or 19 slide or just pick up a glock 19 frame for the ole 19L. Great video as always
As a former Department armor, I can see the benefit, when fitting out new hires with a department issued side arm. People come in all different sizes. From 4 to now 8 size guns in 9mm.
I have an interesting story about GLOCK ..... a few years back I was in a gun shop looking at GLOCKS. I asked the guy helping me if I could take a look at the 17 and the 19 at the same time *and* if I could take them apart. He hesitated for a sec but said ok, sure. I removed both slides and then put the 19s slide on the 17s frame. VOILA! At that moment another counter guy walked up, sees the guns on the counter and asked what we were doing. I held up the G17/19 hybrid and said "THIS is the GLOCK I really, really want!" He says "just give GLOCK a coupla months....." He was 100% correct. A few months later the GLOCK 45 came out! I bought 2 😆
Not a big Glock fan, but watched the video anyway. Thought maybe Caleb would do a comparison of Glock basically making the same gun over and over, just like he wears the same doo, over and over.
No, it's basically a 17, but because the frame is slightly shorter, it will accept a 19 slide. So if you have a 47 and a 19, you can run the 47 as-is (i.e. like a 17) or put a 19 slide on it and it's a 19X/45. As a bonus, you could put your 47 slide on the 19 and it becomes a 19L. As an aside, the 17MOS is no longer available to the general public and the 47 (which is MOS) has replaced it.
It becomes a 45 in this configuration. Assuming one is using a holster that isn't too deep, this set-up would be useful for someone carrying externally and is seated a lot.
Thanks for sharing your video. No matter what one says a Glock in the hands of a well trained individual is something to see. There's other pistols who's reliability is on par and would do the same. However seeing a group of well trained law enforcement agents running there Glocks at a range is an awesome sight. Glocks definitely aren't going away. There's plenty of choices for those who don't like Glock which is a good thing. Thanks again for sharing your video 😄🙏
I cannot hold a serious conversation about “new” Glocks in which I pretend they’ve changed at all in 20 years. They are useful screwdrivers that run great. That’s it. They aren’t neat or innovative and I wish they’d reduce the price $20 and just send them without the garbage sights haha.
I think when CBP (customs and border protection) selected the Glock 47 as the their new service pistol (replacing the HK P2000) it was supposed to just be for them. It’s a little different from when the 19x didn’t get selected in the pistol trials to replace the m9 (for the military) so technically speaking there is no “military 19x” but as far as I know the public release and the CBP Glock 47 are the same. Pretty cool! I hope to see more of this from Glock (seems to be the trend with the release of the 49) it’s cool to be able to own two guns but essentially have a 4 gun “combo” just by switching slides and frames. Being a huge Glock fan I think SIG kinda “one up” Glock by sterilization of the trigger control group and swapping things around that way I’m not positive because I don’t own one but I think that direction gives you more options and choices. Anyone know how that works on the SIG pistols? Great video by the way! Aloha 🤙🏼
Help me out here, so what is the 19X then? I thought it was the hybrid gun of a “full size” 19? Is it because this one comes in black but 19X is tan? Serious question here, I don’t own a glock and am questioning the logic here
💯 Don't hate Glock totally, but I'm definitely not a schill., either. I'm glad they exist, though, so companies I DO like (i.e. S&W) can improve their products
G19 + custom G17 length slide and barrel will give you the same thing. What makes this a special OEM Glock product besides just another marketing angle to profit?
I think it mainly benefits people who do not own a Glock 9mm yet, like myself. There is no reason to not buy this as it does everything a 17 does except with added versatility
No. That was why this gun was made. The Gen 5 G17 has a full length dust cover that makes it impossible to put a G19 slide on it. The G47 shortens the dust cover so that either a full size slide or a compact slide can fit.
Don't have a problem with the mod.47 but wouldn't it kinda make more sense to have say a 17 slide on a 19 frame? Seeing that the grip is the hardest part of the pistol to conceal?
This is why they officially sell the G49, so if those attributes appeal to you, you can get an off-the-shelf solution. For strong-side IWB carry the grip is the tougher part of concealment, but appendix carry, the grip length does not matter as much.
I cant for the life of me figure out why this needs to exist. Noone is ever gonna need to "swap slides" with a g19, so any niche this would fill seems already covered by the g45 or the 19x.
Nobody switches slides on them..... It's a maintenance/part issue. All of the internals are the same, to include the guiderod/recoil spring assembly....the most replaced part...that's all.
G49 comes from the factory in the shorter (G19) grip length, with full-size (G17) slide, whereas G47 is, for all intents and purposes, a product-improved G17. Buying G19 gen 5 and a G47, as shown, you can also swap assemblies to create a G45 (long grip, short slide) or a G49 (short grip, long slide). Glock has actually discontinued G17 gen 5 MOS because the G47 has everything the 17 does and more. The non-MOS G17 gen 5 will still be around.
@@garand1911 Not really. I would say carrying a duty pistol without a WML is completely negligent and thankfully many LE agencies also feel this way, so shortening the barrel doesn’t reduce the draw time considering the light will almost always be longer. Shortening the barrel also does not increase the mag capacity.
@@rifleshooterchannel208 the G45 is an incredibly popular pistol. It doesnt make any sense to YOU. But there are people able to conceal a full size grip, and prefer a full length grip for shooting, but want a shorter slide that doesn't poke into them as hard, without sacrificing significant velocity. Now, when they put an x300 on it anyway, no that doesn't make sense
So the G47 is a snubnosed frame version of a G17 that allows the user to swap the slide with a G19 to make a G45, or swap the frame with a G19 to make a G49. I don’t get why you couldn’t already do that with just the G19 & G17 Gen5. They should have just made that possible with the Gen5 guns instead of even bothering with a G45/47 or 49. None of those number models should be necessary. Especially more than a straight up compact double-stack 10mm model which they still haven’t made….
The Glock 47, just like every other 5th gen Glock on the market, but with claims that it’s “new”. lol Glock fanboys are the definition of “brand loyalty”.
Makes perfect sense. Some people want a full size grip but dont always need the longer barrel, or they want the longer barrel but a shorter grip for better concealment. There is no reason to buy a glock 17 any more now that this exists
Caleb's casual snark towards that ATF buffoon cracked me up
Hey, the ATF is a Godsend. I'm just wondering where God plans to send them.
Right? 😏
Border patrol ended up adopting flower bouquets and chocolate boxes instead
Buuuurrnnnn
Never forget, dual citizenship Israeli politicians believes America’s borders should be open, but Israel’s should be closed
Ain’t that the truth! 🤦♂️
Glock: You could have just adopted the Glock 45 and 19 and saved everyone mountains of cash.

Those dont have the full size barrels, which they may have wanted
Glocks marketing team must have the easiest job in the world.
Yup. Glock does minimal marketing. Perfection markets itself.
Glock. Because we know you will anyway.
Border patrol adopted the 47, but Customs didnt want it and went with the 19.
One person at HQ decided on the 19, BP let their peeps choose one or the other....
I'd like to see a 26 slide on a shortened 17 or 19 frame. It would pair well with a suppressor.

So I have to buy 2 guns to swap parts between them and them only to have 4 combinations and still have to buy 2 guns, I’m sold😮
It provides compatibility that the 19 and 17 should have had. Now you do it with the 45 and 47
