Enjoyed this, although tbh I've never been a fan of any EVs except for Hybrids, purely because of their extended range capability and living in Australia, where huge distances are travelled and a lack of charging infrastructure. Not only that, but the enormous impost upon private companies who would service these vehicles and the regulatory environment surrounding safety, while "conducting" services. (jkjk) I'll stick to my ICE powered vehicles forever. Thank you very much for the attention to small details, unapologetic objective honest opinions inimitable & entertaining style, with a bit of a sting at the end Sarah. 🙏 🐝 Got a real buzz!
As a child of the 60’s, I thought that the mini skirt and gogo boots were perfectly appropriate for the retro theme of the car. The amount of thought, effort, and detail you put into your videos is so amazing. Good job as always Sarah!
Hey Sarah, This is actually one of the vehicles that my team and I prepped in Chattanooga TN. It’s exciting to see you review a car we are responsible for. Awesome Work!
Loved the “hippie” soundtrack… you never disappoint in the details. 👏 VW always manages to make weird look cool. That range, though. I’m trying to imagine what it would be with a family of four on a frigid night with the climate control on full blast and all the seat heaters on and smart phones or tablets plugged in. 😱 Thank you, Sarah. 👍👍👍
Plugged in Smartphones and tablets have no measurable impact on the range of an EV. Even the climate control doesn’t reduce the range significantly. Too much myths circulating around from people, that never had used an electric car.

Yeah, this looks like a great vehicle, but it's too expensive for most people. I'd really like a budget version of this, I could do without a lot of these features.

I recently learned that the Chicken Tax basically ruined the truck versions for the U.S. market. Yes the Chicken Tax tariff was in response to European countries placing tariffs on U.S. poultry products, but apparantly the U.S. auto industry had been petitioning President Johnson about placing a tariff on the VW trucks that are based on the VW Microbus.
I believe it's all import automotive that is subject to that , hence why we don't get the lil kei car/trucks much and they "chicken tax" the f outta them so it makes it not worth them being imported and or not able to get them legal .... I want to say I heard something last year about the possibility of the chicken tax being lifted. But tbh they make to much from it , the only way we will get that is prolto petition for it to change the mandate AR just drop it in general .. but if you know the US government, they all about $ and tax dollars are there rainy day money they refuse to lose 😢.. peace and love fam
I'm 99% sure that particular tariff applies to the cargo van version too. Fun fact, that tariff is why the subaru B.R.A.T. had rear seats - it's an "open-air rear passenger area," not a "truck bed" lol
As the owner of a two '62 a '65, and a '67 I think this is a huge fail by VW. They have bet the farm on this thing and if it does not sell, they as a company are over.
Love your review, Sarah. Just FYI, with a cd-Value at 0,29, drag is super low for a high vehicle like this. Also, the warning sound came on because the "ignition" was on while you were not sitting in the driver seat, but in the back seat. Technically the ID. Buzz just warns you about this situation: The car is still ready to roll, no driver can be recognized and you had at least one door open.
That was the most favorable review I have seen for the Buzz. Others have panned it badly over the range. You are correct that a cargo version for city deliveries would make a lot of sense. Loading and unloading things from the side can be a good thing in a city. I think that they should make a version without a lot of the fancy lighting and other stuff like that and make it a lot more utility at a lower price. Your choice of playing Alice Cooper in it was a good one.
The range is pretty much a killer for anyone who is going to use it for more than getting groceries. It's a fantastic car as long as you never drive more than 80-100 miles in a day. If you do, you better live somewhere warm and flat like Florida and not carry passengers to get anything close to the listed range (esp in the out years once it degrades a bit). I would gladly pay twice this MSRP to get the VW California ICE version in the US. VW makes some *amazing* vans but refuses to sell them in North America.
Yet another stellar review! While our nest is empty these days, I can only imagine the joyride our three children would have turned it into if they were still living at home. Even though we don’t have a practical need for a vehicle like that anymore, I watched the review anyway-because, I enjoy your style and I just to see what you think of it. See you in the next one.
Best review ever. The bus is ok " should all be hybrid " but between that outfit and the bee dance. Priceless lolololool Please never stop being you..... Bless you from Wyoming
