*They called him “The Katana of Midway”*
I had only heard the stories from my squad mates as we were nearing Iwo Jima on the ships.
It had been said that he was one of the lead Japanese fighters during the attack on Pearl Harbour.
Ever since then, he had been racking up kills in every battle and engagement he’s been in. A Japanese ace. Especially in the battle where he got his name, the battle of midway.
Air squadrons both fighters, dive bombers and torpedo bombers, even some ships reported of an A6M Zero with deadly aim and impossible to follow aerobatics.
And they said it had an unusual paint job and a Japanese Kanji symbol on the side by the nose that later on after the war found out meant “Honour”
As I was on a landing craft heading towards the beach of Iwo Jima, I heard the sound of engines and gunfire above. A smoking F4U Corsair with a Zero on its tail, a Zero with a paint job and a symbol by the nose.
I watched as the F4U caught fire and crashed into the beach after taking more rounds of the Zero’s booming 20 mils, which later on I found out was loaded with explosive rounds.
The Zero climbed into the clouds as I saw two more F4Us chase after him. After a mere few seconds I saw the Zero diving back down out of the clouds just a moment before seeing the two F4Us on fire and crashing down to the earth. He had taken care of them with ease.
Then we started to get shelled by Jap coastal defences and lost sight of the Zero, not until I saw it again when we landed on the beach.
It made runs over and over, taking out many of our men after dropping fire bombs just a few meters from our position, taking out a whole squad.
Our ship’s anti air guns never stopped firing at him but never hitting.
The last time I saw of that Zero was him retreating deeper over the island to get away from AA fire with two more F4U’s on his tail. I also later on learned he took those ones down too.
After taking the island and fighting a few more battles and ending the war, I also later found out he was finally shot down during the battle of Okinawa just a couple months after the battle of Iwo Jima.
He fought to his last battle to defend Japan.
While they checked his downed plane, they found a his family’s Katana sword in the cockpit which many other Japanese pilots often did and they took it. It was retuned to his family as with many other confiscated katanas to Japan, decades after the war ended.
Till this day I’ve never seen a plane flown so skillfully and with purpose.
It wasn’t till today that I found out the pilot was just doing 20 minute video commentaries during every battle. *Guess you gotta do anything for content nowadays.*

Battlefield is the only game where you can perpetually say someone is just trash and it’s always true.
That one poor dude that kept getting on the AA to try and kill the planes. Just like getting spawn killed every time haha. Killing him from almost out of range.

When I play defender I prefer the 1000 pound bomb and anti tank mines. As attacker I use burning bombs and flares. It‘s better to destroy the enemy tanks as I think when you defend, the enemies sometimes have 5 or 6 of them
Just trying to imagine how angry the enemy team must've been. 192-1 as a pilot is possible, but requires some serious skill. Wondering how you avoided all those fliegerfaust attacks tho...
Yeah definitely not happy! As for avoiding the fliegers it's really as easy as keeping your distance.

Flying for me on Australian servers generally goes something like this:
Fly an aircraft for 10 seconds. Get instantly shot down by another aircraft with upgrades and is a more experienced pilot or get taken down by an AA Tank.
That desperation move deserves Ace Status 😂☁️☁️

Often this happens, you just find the players (usually medics) that hang around on the piles of bodies that you create.

Awesome flying dude! Question: Would you recommend having the plane camera like you and just get used to it?
I use the camere were the plane and camera rolls with you basically which makes it harder to spot planes chasing you i feel.
BLAAUW _ I used to fly that way and was in the same position, I think this was near the release time and I decided to switch the camera and get used to it. At this point I have adjusted to it and it’s way better and worth the switch.
I think it's way better to be honest, but It's just preference in the end

hey pilots ! 1 question if i may ... i'm pretty decent tank driver but i've never ever touched any kind of aircraft in any of bf games and i'm kinda looking forward to (there is something magical about ww2 planes:) )... is it possible to be a decent pilot using mouse and keyboard ? ... also what is the best way to practice ? thx
Absolutely possible! I fly with exclusively mouse and keyboard. Just look on my channel for the video on controls and you'll be absolutely fine

Haha I said camo. As in the new camoflauge that you unlock makes you stand out and once they know you're the problem they'll be able to focus you.

How is this even possible? Nobody sat down at a point at game testing with a good pilot and thought: Hm, maybe we should not allow that to happen? Sometimes, I feel, that using the grind and very young interns is not a good strategy for triple A games, but, hey, what do I know? I am just a programmer...
DICE doesn't really do much vehicle testing from what I've experienced. So many dumb things get rolled out straight over their heads

The planes don’t need nerfing, nerf them anymore and they may aswell just be fucking glorified gliders.
You’re watching this thinking there’s no way of countering Silk when all it literally takes is a dedicated decent pilot in the fighter Corsair contesting him and he can’t possibly mop up ground targets like he is now as he’ll be constantly dealing with the enemy plane and/or getting shot down.
Shit like this actually annoys me tbh, the foot pvp’rs want everything nerfed just because it doesn’t suit “their” play style but completely neglect the fact that people buy this game purely for the vehicle pvp thus the game has to be fun and rewarding for them too not just you.
I agree shit does need a nerf at times 100% but planes are far from broken OP if anything they’re in a decent place right now at least on the pacific maps anyway, the other maps the ground variants of planes have been nerfed into a pulp and just aren’t fun or rewarding enough to actually consider using them apart from the odd bomber maybe.
So next time when i jump into a server i must first check if silk is on the enemy team..

Hi Silk. Can you walk me thru your key settings on how you use the free look while your're in first person inside the cockpit? I just can't get it to happen/work and it is frustrating me big time. Cheers and thanks for another Pacific vid.
I think by default it's middle mouse click, but I rebound it to Shift as it's easy for me to press for rear cam aswell. I'll show all my current settings in a video coming soon, just need to get my exams out the way. I have a 185-0 coming tonight but after that it might be a week to the next one which is the guide.

I pretty much always have space down when i'm dogfighting, I only really let go when I'm aiming

Hold S, but it's just by feel really and I fly with wasd, space and mouse

I get asked this a lot, and aside from using good settings (check the guide), I just see them easily. I could do this on any settings, it's the movement that your eyes detect best.
Hey silk,cant really understand while in process of killing infantry , do you slow down or go with normal speed?
Im on ps4 and I cant seem to direct my aim I always start shooting get hit markers and over/under compensate the enemy plane rarely do I shoot down planes and infantry with ease like you is my sensitivity to high?
You probably need to run a hack like most PC pilot's
You could try lowering it, no harm in that but it's more practice i think

I could probably get 150 kills if I was lucky, I’m a good pilot but I like to play tanks and infantry as well so I kinda just go full ham and get fliegered a lot. Don’t have your patience lol.
Hahah sometimes I see how hard i can push it before dying. I used to play a lot of tanks and still play infantry. Just that my viewers love planes so I tend to keep to my thing

I’ve gotten heaps better since watching your videos. I’m still getting killed by better pilots who get behind me but I have been so much more effective with the plane
imagine if you manage to get to the last sector where the majority of the US pushing uphill in a small chokepoint. 😅

I have to agree that you made a good video, but you have to agree too that you had a lot of luck, cause the enemy planes don't bothered you that much, if i was your enemy i would go after you with the fighter and you wouldn't had this chance of scoring :), i like good dog fights :)

i'm so jealous that in my region people keep entering aa stationary the whole game and disturb pilots i killed them like 10 times but they still don't really have a lesson lol

I wanted to ask how do you set up the controls for the Aircraft in Battlefield 1 and 5 just cause I tried them and no matter what I did with keyboard and mouse it just sucked sooo much and I am never to replicate anything on videos in my games while in like War thunder I am a killing machine xD thanks
