Hi Chris, a nice eclectic mix, however I am very surprised you dissed the Stray album 'Saturday Morning Pictures' !! It's a masterpiece, not a filler track at all and no it isn't 'blues' its straight ahead well-constructed British 70's rock, leagues ahead compared to the blandness of their earlier albums. One needs to listen to the album thru, it is so well segued, produced, recorded and musically executed. Great guitarwork and some beautiful off-beat drumming.......

Very interesting Chris I would like to pick up on the Stray album I saw them many times in the 70's fantastic live band, the track Our Song is one of my favourites from the 1970's played so many times.
I saw Stray in the 90's I was talking to them in a break at the bar. I said about liking Our Song and they played it for me in their set. A big moment for me 🎸⚡

Thanks, Chris, the Magazine album is really good, but 'Secondhand Daylight' is unique in the atmosphere it creates, a classic. I know you are a big Deep Purple fan, and will be pleased they have released their 23rd studio album, incredible that they started in the 1960's, however, i don't think they spent too long on the minimalist cover art.

Julian Cope has written a couple of large books on prehistoric monuments of Britain and Europe, he is an expert on the subject, which he combines with his musical outputs. He is into leylines as well and how they allegedly connect sacred places in straight lines.

Hi Chris, again an interesting assortment. In relation to Laughing Lenny I still like a comment I heard many years ago that 'Leonard Cohen is to depression what Colonel Sanders is to chicken'.
Great to see Rose Tattoo get a mention. They were one of the first really good bands I ever saw live. The first number they played was Astra Wally. I thought I'd died and gone to heaven. Also managed to see Dr Feelgood in a pub in Sydney late 70s/early 80s. Wilko had left the band but a bloke called Gypie Mayo took his place and he was really good. I must say I envy you for the great bands you have seen over the years.

Good to see that you have got the Warhorse album.
I have reissue on vinyl which i bought in 83 (when i was listening to all things connected to Purple eg Green Bullfrog, Elf etc). However when they reissued the album they changed its name to Vulture Blood. It is a good album with the stand out track, Burning. The guitar by Jed Peck sounds very like Blackmore. It strikes me as if Warhorse were, in terms of sound, slightly behind the curve of Deep Purple MK2, Black Sabbath and Led Zep. Even though Simper plays well on this album, i can see why Blackmore preferred to have Glover. In 1970 Glover was a more rocky/progressive player thsn Simper. By the way i have listened to latest Deep Purple album once. It's OK but really for me, they lost their excitement after Burn. Mind you i am one of the few who likes Come Taste the Band (apart from the awful nsmr and album cover)!

@@TheVinylOrchard Bolin's playing on Spectrum by Billy Cobham is so good. Incidentally, I saw Purple play twice - Knebworth and in 87. I also saw Rainbow in 83. Blackmore is my favourite rock guitarist but I was slightly disappointed at all 3 gigs. I think Blackmore's sound live became a bit muddy after he left Deep Purple. However I would take this anytime over the too clinical playing of Steve Morse..

A collection is made all the better by the anomalies it contains. Most of mine came from the bargain bins of Woolies based on the premise that every album must have at least one good tune on it, hence the likes of Nik Kershaw, Wendy & Lisa gathering dust on my shelves 😂
Those Talking Heads & Teardrops albums get regular outings though, love Burning down the house & When I dream. Been too long since i listened to Dr Feelgood, they were tremendous 👍
Saw John McGeogh a few times, hre was great in the Banshees but the last time I saw him live was with Pil, he was just awesome a whole level above what I'd seen him before, the whole band were, great night.
