Superb run through, and much kudos for featuring Budgie, Montrose and especially Lone Star. Suspect that you were also glued to Tommy Vance’s Friday Night Rock Show, which is where this selection immediately transported me back to, although it’s Space Station No. 5 that will forever be etched in my mind as that show’s theme song. And if you ever get that radio show, you’re guaranteed at least one listener! Cheers, Chris!

Great show again. I knew you would not miss all the Sweet singles. Many are compiled on the studio disc from the 1975 2-LP "Strung Up". The other disc is live. I may have said before but I took my then girlfriend to see them at Bolton Navada (sic) a large roller skating rink, infamous throughout Lancashire, in mid-1971 just after Funny Funny was a hit and Coco was riding high. Expecting much more of the same, I was pleasantly blown away by a heavy sound more akin to Hendrix and Cream from a wall of brand new bright Orange amps. In the same vein wrt different genre B-sides. check out the singles from Dave Dee, Dozy, Mick and Tich. The flips are all superb psych freakbeat cuts. Legend of Xanadu and Last Night in Soho are themselves great records, but listen to the b-side of Zabadak, "The Sun Goes Down" and others from the late 60's.

Always nice to see Graham Parker get a mention. He is so overlooked. Discovering Japan is a brilliant song and the whole album Squeezing out Sparks is amazing. Great from start to finish👍

Hi Chris, superb selection, and your comments spot on. Stiff Little fingers knew how to start an album, with Gotta Gettaway first off on Nobody's Heroes.

some great choices there, bit later but I thought of FFF by PIL on Album or Dumb Waiters by The Psychedelic Furs on Talk Talk Talk

Great list!!!! I’d add: - Your Phone’s Off The Hook (X) - Change Of Ideas (Bad Religion) - Private Eye (Alkaline Trio) - No Revolution (The Explosion) - That Song (The Bouncing Souls) - Walk Away (Dropkick Murphys)

@PunkRockPete I like music from its original era. For me punk is a 76-79 thing. I don’t listen to any beyond that tbh. I feel the same about hard rock although it’s a much longer period 67ish to 83ish.

@@TheVinylOrchard OK, to each their own. I grew up on the 1976-1980 PunkRock. But I never stopped listening. I love PunkRock from all eras.

@PunkRockPete I disliked Oi and the like. So much preferred the post punk sound. For me personally punk served its purpose early on and beyond that era sounds rather dated.

Makes me lament losing most of my album collection. A great pre punk opener would be Dr Feelgood's album Down by the Jetty with She Does it Right

Nice list Chris. Other notable album openers: I Feel Like - the Stranglers Tank - the Stranglers Dazzle- the Banshees Watching the Grass Grow - Punkadelic (Nik Turner's punk band) Bata Motel - Crass (cmon Chris - where's are the Crass tracks in your list!). Cheers

Great video as normal Chris. One chord wonders would be at the top in my list as it sets the tone for the rest of the album so well. I wonder what we'll play for you tonight. Something heavy or something light. Something to set your soul alight. Those first three lines says it all.

What a wonderful song that is . I always say I prefer Gary Gilmore‘s eyes but that’s probably for nostalgic reasons. One chord wonders is a better song. Thank you for watching and taking the time to comment. Best wishes, Chris
