  • After showing my jazz collection on vinyl i thought why not show another genre also so here comes my new wave- and synthpop collection in the same format. If you think i have too little with some artists, i have much on both CD and cassette as well and don't see buying vinyl-versions as the most important right now.

If Depeche Mode was not shown in this one I would have definitely thought that something was wrong. {smile} I really enjoyed seeing these brother J. I forgot that you liked Erasure. I do too. Anything that Andy Bell and Vince Clarke are involved with us OK by me. You took me way back with some of these. China Crises, Belin, Heaven 17, Flock of Seagulls, etc.. I saw Flock Of Seagulls and The Fixx as a backup to The Police on their Synchronicity Tour at Sullivan Stadium during the endless summer of 1983. I enjoyed Flacok Of Seagulls but got a little bored shortly after. I think I went because a lot of my friends were going. But I was not overly thrilled with the lineup. Enjoy the weekend J. It is snowing at the moment once again here in Massachusetts. Its supposed to snow until Saturday morning. I cannot wait for spring. Only 29 days away. Yes!!!~

Hi Brother R - yeah, i guess i gotta be me when it comes to Depeche Mode. ;)
Yes, anything with Vince Clarke is labaled with quality and Erausre is of course on the very top of his projects.
To me, as a non-Police fan i would have been there just for Seagulls and Fixx.
It was indeed fun to do this video and show some favourites of mine. Thanks for watching and take care! :)

Wow! Now that is an amazing synth-pop collection! Very impressive! Many of the forgotten synth groups and most of the more popular ones represented here! Nice show and tell! Peace ☮️✌️👽🤘☮️

Hi Brian - it was very fun to show these albums. I enjoy discovering those that are forgotten and lift them up again. Thanks for watching and take care! :)

Great collection, lots of stuff you don't see or hear anymore. I also have a synth pop collection but I keep it separate from the bigger New Wave bands like Duran Duran. Have Depeche Mode in goth/post punk except for their first album. Kon Kan I have it in dance music and jean M Jare in ambient electronic music and New Order as electronica also. I have Infinity by Rupert Hine and another one by him with a different name Thinkman or something. Great to see Classic Noveauxx, have their first album too. Blackmange I just have a compilation. After seeing your video I'm going to put my 80's Bowie and Roxy Music on synth pop, that makes sense. I have two Ultravox compilations and a bootleg live album but I don't know if it contains that soundtrack. Marc Almond have so many albums, I have 3 different ones. I never heard of China Crisis, maybe I'll check'em out. I have a Space album where one side is prog rock from a guy from the weird french prog band Magma. I have the Sharpe/Numan album, very underrated.

      Hi Alejandro,
interesting to hear that we have a lot of records in common.
Thinkman was Rupert Hines alter ego, but i have never heard anything by him under that name.
China Crisis are amazing, "Working with fire and steel" is highly recommended! Thanks for watching and take care! :)

jorgens enjoyed your synthpop collection. Blind buys can be fun when the price is right. I agree: Breathe (synthpop) was a blind buy that I really enjoyed. When I think of the other i will put in comments next time. Thanks Jorgens. Alfonso

    •  3 ปีที่แล้ว

Hi Alfonso - i buy a whole ot less blind buys nowadays as it takes up a lot of space. But if the price is right, like you, said and i see the right musicians, producers or style it can be fun and very profitable. Thanks for watching and take care! :)

That’s an awesome collection of jazz. Some interesting bands I’m not familiar with. Love to hear some needle drops. Stay warm Jorgen.

Thank you, i wanted as a young lover in my teen years to have a big jazz record collection and now i have it. Though i'm curios why you commented in a video for new wave/synthpop. ;) Thanks for watching and take care! :)

Through the barricades is one of my favorite 80's albums. It's an album I often enjoy listening to. I used to have a radio recording of Don't say that it's over by Korgis, but it took me many years before I found out what that song was. It was one of my mystery songs. Koi is also a very nice song by Kitaro from his album Kojiki. Mick Karn also did some great bass playing on Akiko Yano 1982 album with the cow on the album cover. I was actually listening to Indochine 3 earlier today. I discovered Afternoons in utopia before Forever young.

    •  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Hi Kopp - "Through the barricades" is indeed a great album. And the title track is a masterpiece in the genre.
I have mostly listened to the 70s and early 80s albums of Kitaro. I have heard some of the more modern albums he made and i wasn't all that thrilled though. But he have a very special style that i like and learned to love already in my teen years. Thanks for watching and take care! :)

@ Silk road suite was my introduction to Kitaro. Akira Ito is another similar to Kitaro but with less success abroad. I have two of his albums but seldom listen to them. I discovered Alphaville because of the music video Dance with me on TV. I also discovered lots of music at the library where one could borrow and listen to tapes and records. I'm glad I got back to physical media. I did get a bit lost when the Mp3's arrived at the beginning of the Internet age. It's fun to watch you showing and talking about records. That's also a nice way of discovering music because when there's something unknown one can just check it out on youtube :)

I also would like to see the play list on the New Wave / New Musik compilations that you have.

    •  ปีที่แล้ว

If have extremely few comps in this genre. I prefer nowadays to buy full albums. However you could look at Discogs for the playlist of the albums you are interested in.

Great collection! The album that is unique and stands out on this list is "No Sense of Sin" by The Lotus Eaters. Great underated album. Their 2nd album "Silentspace" released during the early 2000s is also very good.
Another album you must listen to is from the Norweigan band Fra Lippo Lippi. You can start with the album "Songs", produced and remixed by late 80s Cure producer Dave Allen. 😊

    •  2 ปีที่แล้ว

Thanks for your kind words. The Lotus Eaters album is indeed a great one that i managed to find for a pretty low price.
I have already Fra Lippo Lippis "Songs", plus the follow up "Light and shade", but they are sorted under the regular pop albums. They are really great albums! Thanks for watching and take care! :)

I had to go to wikipedia to learn the difference between Kajagoogoo and Kaja. Okay. I learned something today.

    •  3 ปีที่แล้ว

Hi Doc - ok, i thought it was common knowledge that Kaja and Kajagoogoo were the same. ;) Glad that you found that out anyway. Thanks for watching and take care! :)

    •  3 ปีที่แล้ว

Hi there, i'm glad you have found something new to look for. If you mean danish group Laid Back, yes i know of them. Otherwise most likely not. It doesn't sound like something that i have in my collection. Thanks for watching and take care! :)

    •  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Hi Harris - Thanks for the shoutout. That Depeche-collection was the first one by them i bought, back in the late 80s. There were a lot that i had of course Human League, Soft Cell and Pet Shop Boys. Indeed some really great stuff there! Thanks for watching and take care! :)

I love your new wave collection.
Is there a new wave record store you may recommend? Mostly I'm into European and American New Wave. I'm from Manila, the Philippines.

    •  ปีที่แล้ว

Thanks for your kind words! I don't know of a special new wave record store. "Record mania" in Stockholm is my favorite record store overall though, and they have a really good mount of new wave-albums. Thanks for watching and take care! :)

Howard Jones Dream Into Action is 🔥
But no Thompson Twins? I don't know if this considered synth-pop or not, but what do you think about Yellow?

    •  2 ปีที่แล้ว

I have put Thompson Twins in the regular pop-section, as well as Yello, who i really like. :) Thanks for watching and take care! :)

Kitaro , more New Age ? It's Kaja goo goo .Not go go .

    •  ปีที่แล้ว +1

I know Kitaro would maybe fit better in a new age category, but since new age is a genre i don't have all that much with or listen to frequently i feel there is no need for that genre.
So in lack of better ideas i thought Kitaro could be in the synthpop genre, as he after all are playing on synthesizers.
You're right, or to be honest it's even spelled Kajagoogoo, in one word. Thanks for watching and take care! :)
