By practicing and loving it.
I did it for fun with people that had been doing it for a long time already and some just starting out. So a lot of fresh ideas from younger people and a lot of good established base of play.
Then I started playing against people against me so I saw a lot of things against and ideas of others for those playing with me.
If you asked me how I got good at tricking. A lot of practice. For real life I would lie wacky things all the time already, so I just changed it to actual plausible things.
and yes, we told everyone what I would do to an extent and I that I was a good liar. It still seemed to not matter. Some people looked more suspicious for longer than usual but gave up.
