Full Flight: United Airlines B737-800 Tampa to Chicago (TPA-ORD)

- Hey guys! In this video, I travel up to Chicago, Illinois from Tampa, Florida aboard a United Airlines B737-800 painted in a sleek new livery! However, I wasn't originally planned to be on this plane. Call it luck of the Irish! My original flight was supposed to be on a United A319 2 hours after this flight, but when I looked at the departure screen and realized it was delayed a few hours which would in turn make me miss my last flight of the day, I knew I had to quickly find another alternative. Thankfully, this 737 was leaving roughly 40 minutes later and so I quickly rebooked myself onto it and was happily surprised when it sported United's new fresh livery (which I've really grown to love!). As far as the product onboard and service, I can tell United is getting better, but they can still add some more features onboard and make the pax experience even more comfortable for economy. Now, regarding COVID, this video was shot in March so the virus was really just starting to ramp up in the United States. So, no airline had implemented a mask requirement yet, but I still kept mine on the whole time on the plane and at the airports. My thoughts on how United handled things in March are at the end of the video. Besides these points, it was a beautiful day to fly and a nice flight. Hope you guys enjoy!

@@thejazzguy13 The economy and economy plus seats are exactly the same, except with the one difference being the economy plus rows are further apart giving you more legroom, right?
Do the economy plus seats also recline further back?

@@garrett5643 I think they are just over-hated. When something happens that is not their fault, such as a scorpion stinging a passenger or delays/cancellations due to bad weather, people just blame and bash United just because of United's 2017 incident.

Great video, and man do I miss Chicago. Before the pandemic, I was flying there for work twice a month from SFO. Always on UAL. I haven’t flown since late January, but will finally fly again in a few weeks to Vegas. Only a 90 min flight from SFO on an E175... but I’m so looking forward to it 😊

whenever i fly to Chicago from Florida the plane usually follows I-65 and you see cities such as Indianapolis and Louisville and Atlanta sometimes as well

I flew a brand new 737 on United in November 2019 and it didn't have any screens on the seatbacks. It was from Chicago to Phoenix. I don't know they wouldn't buy a new plane with screens.

Howdy, great trip report as always! I have to admit that I’m starting to prefer UA over AA, though DL is still my least favorite! That being said, if I can get on them through LGA or SLC I’ll be fine, and if I don’t have bags, DTW is fine!😸😻😸

Flying over old Tampa Bay,where is New Tampa Bay? :) Even though this vid was only made a few months ago,it seems long ago--no face masks,no social distancing,terminals buzzing with folks,aircraft in numbers moving about,no prepackaged snack bags,an actual inflight magazine--wow and not in a good way! Something on my bucket list is to fly to CVG,rent a car and drive to Dayton to see the US Air Force Museum. I hope UA didn't charge you an extraordinary amount to rebook you to the earlier flight. Seems strange to fly north to ORD only to partially retrace your route as you fly south to CVG,presumably for the night.
Nope was totally free with the virus situation to switch! And ya, the old normal seems like so far away now... :/

Continental was the better airline before the merger started. Continental has been racking up awards as passenger's favorite US carrier during the 1990s and 2000s, meanwhile United had to shut down maintenance and furlough employees during the 2000s. Not to mention that United did not start the Continental merger yet when Dave Carroll called United out for breaking guitars in 2009.
