Absolutely essential viewing for TCG hobbyists. Amazing breakdown of everything the LGS has to consider when navigating the complicated hobby market.
Thanks so much for the feedback!
Great info, thanks for the video
This was a great bit of insight as to how to compete to thrive in the games space. Philosophically, I listen to this and think Kaizen and Trader Joe’s style culture. Engaging content, I love to hear the analysis behind the brand. Will be back for more.
Thanks so much. Appreciate your take on the content. I'll keep it coming.
Dude you are super smart with the way you run this. From a business owner.
Appreciate that. It’s difficult when I have to do things that some customers would prefer were different. I don’t enjoy disappointing them or not meeting their needs. I also have to stay in business.
Very interesting & thought-provoking Vid, guys ;-)
Best video yet! Fantastic info!
Thanks so much!
Great video explaining this Travis. We have to operate on way less of a profit margin though because of shipping costs within Canada, brokerage across the border, smaller distributor discounts, etc. We actually gave up on the demo tables due to space constraints but since the staff is all very enthusiastic about at least a few aspects of what we sell, it's usually easy to direct customers to the right person to talk about whatever they are interested in.
Do you still have those big display boards with the covers over the top of your miniatures games as a show piece? May be an opportunity to generate more revenue in that space if you converted a few?
@@traviss9612 there's a couple in use still mostly in the historical section. Most of the fantasy miniature displays have moved up to the mezzanine in IKEA glass cases with locks and extra shelves. They get a lot of attention.
you the MVP
Thanks so much. Appreciate the view. Glad you enjoy the content.
I'm still calling it the tweetybird platform... I remember when paypal was X, and it just doesn't seem to fit twitter
For sure.
The fluctuations with MTG are messing with retailers
A bit. It's become a little more volatile and takes a bit more finesse from set to set. It used to be "give me what I ordered last set and increase it by 10% for growth". Those days are gone now.
Great video, but I would know to know what distributors you're getting a 48-50% margin on for TCG's? Standard margins from most distro is 40%. Board games and other products are generally 50% but idk a single TCG that is obtainable at 50%. Even for a store with an incredibly high volume Best I've seen is ~42-43%.
I currently order TCG's through ACD, Alliance, GTS and Peachstate Hobbies
Good video !!!
👍👍👍
When is it time to not be casual?
