Caleb Mayfield....any chance you can provide some links to all the parts that you use..?? I am looking seriously at doing this in the new year, and am trying to compile parts and supplier list. I am especially interested in the supplier with the ball screws and plates.
By the way.....awesome and very well structured presentation...!! Thank you !!

How much all of that cost?

I am about to do the conversion to my LMS 3960 and I do have the airspring installed. Was there any issues with the airspring? Before I jump into this project do you have any words of advice?

John Wilson During the conversion you will need to remove the airspring. It was all pretty easy on the removal process. I would recommend taking the time to drill and tap the top of the column for the Z axis mounting block if you are using the same kit I did.

How much does something like this cost to convert?

Right now I'm honestly not sure. The ball screw conversion kit I used was no longer available last I checked, and that was the biggest single cost. Depending on how you go about it, I'd say if you go new parts you are going to spend at least as much converting as you did on the machine. So $1200-$1500 on a LMS 3990 sized machine.
That being said, at $3k-$4k in you are competing with a Tormach 440 on capabilities, but you build it yourself instead of unboxing, setup and go.
