- the fifth estate’s Linden MacIntyre has done some hard-hitting interviews over the years. But none may have been more difficult than when he sat down with “Mr. Cheesecake” himself -Jason Priestley. Linden talks acting and celebrity with the teen heartthrob at the height of his Beverly Hills 90210 fame in 1992. a 22-year-old laments his teen idol status and looks forward to a more anonymous and productive future.

It's a good show, at least for the first few seasons.
Me too. I’m in my 20’s and I watch it all the time. It’s addictive lol. I wish they had shows like that today.
Gosh those girls must be at least in their late 30s or early 40s today in 2018.

seemed much older and wiser than many his age... but the smoking - so bad, and weird to see - you really don't see that at all any more. If anything, you would likely be called out for it

That Vancouver TV columnist knows nothing of what she was saying. Granted Jason was a big part of the show, and very handsome, the success and popularity of that show fell squarely at the feet of Luke Perry & Shannen Doherty. Full-stop.
AND, Aaron Spelling got very lucky that Luke happened to be a very talented actor and turned some awful writing in many cases, to TV gold.
The show initially set up for Jason Priestley & Shannen Doherty to be the stars, but the phenomenon it turned out to be was ignited by Luke Perry.
In addition to his good looks, it was more than that, his tone of voice, his delivery, his eyes when he looked at Shannen/Brenda…. And ultimately the love story they developed between themselves. That entire relationship and the way it made you feel carried the entire show.
The good thing is, the friendship between Dylan & Brandan / Luke & Jason, translated on camera very genuinely. And viewers also fed of that contrast.
The best thing Aaron Spelling ever did in his career was give a chance to Luke Perry (when the network didn’t want him)
Hands down.
He didn’t take success that good back then in this interview totally different person
